Has anyone ever been through something like this during their third trimester?? I'm 31 weeks, and I almost passed out this afternoon in Walmart! I was taking it easy all day today, didn't do much....however as soon as I walked inside Walmart with my 3 yr old, I felt as though everything was fading away and got really dizzy. I sat down on the bottom shelf of this one isle on top of some mats and called a friend of mine to pick up my daughter from school because I didn't want to drive anytime soon. To make a long story short, I got back up after feeling better and drove home with no groceries :(

:hug99: That's such a scary experience, especially out in public! I think I was 29 weeks when I passed out, just sitting and going to the bathroom of all places ( :( ) I felt it coming on and was able to yell for DH who made it to the bathroom in time to see me fall off the potty... but we went to L&D and the drs never did figure out why I passed out. They said it could have been blood sugar or blood pressure related. I think it could have also easily been one of the boys getting into a position and cutting off my blood flow for a second too.... I hope this was an isolated experience for you! I haven't had any issues since, if that helps you feel a little better! It is definitely very scary!!!!!!

are you at all anemic? That is VERY common when your iron is too low. I had the same episode in walmart too :p. Normally when thats the case I eat a big bowl of cereal & a small glass of OJ. The only reason I knew what it was is because I am slightly anemic all the time, even when I am not pregnant. Also PP pointed out another common culprate... blood sugar! If you eat something high in sugar you body basically has an high & low affect... & a little while after drinking or eating something that is high in sugar or carbs that can happen. If you aren't anemic, or on extra iron then you may just want to watch your diet. The OTHER sign it could be is high BP. Which is yucky & can be a sign of pre-e. I wouldcall you doctor if it happens again today or tomorrow. If not I would definitly make sure to bring it up at your next appointment.

That sounds scary. I would let your doc know about it.

Yup this has happened to me during both my twin pg and my first pg.... I found that it seemed to be related to my sugars dropping. I got into the habit of carrying something sweet around with me... a simple hard candy or even a stick of gum was enough to give me a slight jolt of sugar and keep me from fading. I've had at least two episoides of crouching on the floor in the store...and one horrible episoide where I almost passed out in front of my class! Made it to the bathroom and almost passed out/threw up in there...came back and shoved something to eat in my mouth and things got much better. I never failed my glucose tests...but I'm sure that something funky has gone on with my sugars during both my pgs... Try keeping something sweet handy and see if it helps the next time..... hopefully there won't be a next time though.

I am sorry to hear about your afternoon. I was thinking blood pressure or blood sugar. Can you go to a pharmacy where they have the blood pressure cuffs? Had you just eaten anything sugary or had you not eaten at all?

Yeah, it was a bit scarey. Especially since I was alone in a public place with my 3 yr old who was wondering why the heck I was sitting down on a shelf and not shopping. After I told him mommy wasn't feeling well and we have to go, he looked at me with dissapointment and said "But mama, you didn't even buy anything!"

I'm not anemic, My iron is good, my blood pressure is good so maybe it was one of those things where I needed some sugar. I did have one of those protein shakes in my car that I was going to drink after picking up my daughter from school so after drinking that I felt better. What really annoyed me during that time when I was taking my time drinking my shake, was that this lady who's waiting for my parking spot was annoyed with me because I haven't left the parking space yet. lol

If this happens again, I will definitely go in and see my midwife about it.
Its nice to know that I'm not the only one who's been through something like this. Hope it NEVER happens again to any of us.

I'm sure it was blood sugar... I've always found that when my blood sugar dropped that my blood pressure also seemed like it dropped...but I have low bp to begin with. Just carry snacks around with you...carbs, fruit or even a small piece of candy for an emergency like this.

I had the same thing happen to me with my first pregnancy. I didn't know I was pregnant yet and I was taking a shower and I started to get dizzy and my vision started to fade. I had my blood sugar tested and found out it was low. Then a week later I found out I was pregnant.

I am in my second trimester and just last Friday I was walking to the bathroom and out of the blue I felt real faint and everything started going black. I had to sit on the ledge of the tub for a minute. I then headed to my bed with my cell phone in my hand and I was so weak I could not even call dh for help. I had to lay down and my face started pouring with sweat. I had to lay there for about 30 minutes before I felt better. Then the next day dh was clearing some more of our land and I went outside to video tape him on the bobcat and I was not out there for a minute when I had to come back inside because I started to feel faint again. I don't know what is causing it to happen to me, but I will have to try keeping a sugar snack with me like the pp have suggested. It is very scary and I hope it donesn't happen to any of us anymore.
