DIY furniture (no desks!)

We've got several threads about desks, but I'd be really curious to see some of your non-desk DIY furniture projects. I'm getting increasingly frustrated with off-the-shelf furniture and I've started to think that I should learn to do more DIY stuff to really tailor things to my needs. But it's also a little overwhelming where to start and I don't have a good workspace. Also now with the global wood shortage seems to be a rather bad time to start woodworking. Could be a while till I actually get around to doing anything, but it would be cool to see some of your projects in the meantime.

 

I see it's been a while since you've posted, but I just want to ask—has anyone here tried using rolling carts or adjustable-height shelves instead of a fixed platform or riser? I'm thinking of making my space more flexible, especially for switching between different gear setups. Would love to hear any updates or long-term feedback on your DIY setups and how they're holding up.

 

I ended up repurposing a solid wood outdoor table—super sturdy and actually perfect for my setup. If you're hunting for simple but strong bases or alternative surfaces, I found a few surprisingly useful options on this site. Some of their garden tables work well indoors and are way cheaper than “studio” furniture. Just make sure to check dimensions before buying.
