I feel for the past three years I've just carted stuff around - and really when I think about it unnecessary.

I'm wanting to set myself up so I have a medium sized handbag with me when we run errands - this just will contain essentials. In the car I will have another bag that's stocked with all those things I might need but then again I might not. The car is never far away so I figure I can always go and get something out of it.

Now the problem is what's essential and what's in the maybe bag

    Essentials

    wallet
    cellphone
    1 bib
    A couple of baby toys
    Rusks
    Sun hats / warm hats

    Maybe

    Nappies
    Wipes
    More Bibs
Jumper (in case it gets cold)

I'm not sure where bottles and formula fit in - what do you think? Have I missed stuff out

I just have what I call my "Mom-purse" and in it I have all the normal things I would keep in a purse (wallet, lipstick, cell phone). For the babies I have a couple diapers, ziplock bag of wipes, small tube of diaper cream, bag of crayons (you don't need that yet) and a couple disposable bibs.

I would definitely keep a couple diapers, you don't want to be caught without them. You are probably down to more timed bottles now, so I would bring bottles if you know you will be out at bottle time, otherwise, I wouldn't bother. I think I downsized from carrying the diaper bag all the time around 7-8 months too. I did keep it in the car with a stash of diapers, wipes, and extra clothes for a while.

What are rusks? Just curious. :) I'm a light packer myself & hate lugging around too much stuff. I'm waiting for this bag to be available.....looks like the perfect size for what I need & great organization. I like to pack (for quick trips):

sippie cups (my kids are always thirsty!)
    couple diapers
    wipes
    wallet
    cell phone
    a light snack
camera (if we're going to the park)

And usually that's about it. Maybe a couple toys or books & in the truck I'll keep a change of clothes in case of accidents. When we were still on bottles & formula, I would take either a small pouch with pre-measured formula in it & fill the bottle with water or those little jars of pre-mixed formula that are for smaller servings.

I just got this bag, and LOVE it! http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...&hasJS=true
It is not a diaper bag, but it has pockets that fit sippies and the inside is very roomy for a few diapers and wipes. It also has compartments for your cell phone, pens and other neccessities. I carry a purse to work, but I switch to this on the weekends. I typically carry sippies, a few hot wheels, diapers, wipes, germ-x, wallet & cell phone.
