Disney store closed....

Well, I went to the mall on Saturday. I had planned on going to the Disney Store to take advantage of the deal on figurines posted last Friday. It was closed. There were a couple of girls there at a table handing out checks or something. It was empty. They went out of business. The Disney Store? I have NEVER been in there when it wasn't busy. I was completely stunned. There was no warning at all. I had even been there the week before. Ah well... saves me money in the long run. But could someone PLEASE tell me how I am going to get to enjoy the mall without the promise of a trip to the princess store. That was the only thing that got me through our shopping trips. I could actually get through some sales racks by saying, "If you can be really good for a few more minutes we can go to the princess store!"

 

Wow, I find that surprising. .. I would think any Disney store would be a goldmine.

 

The Disney store at our mall closed about 1.5 years ago, not sure why. But I'm not happy with it. Now our closest one is 25 miles down the road.

 

Ours closed too.... hence the great deals I guess!!

 

We are getting a Disney outlet store at our outlet mall here in California next month- maybe all the stuff is getting shipped to the outlets???

My disney store closed about 2 years ago...wait maybe more than that! I don't even know where the closest one is! It's sad! I miss it lots!

 

Ours closed a few years ago, too!

 

I was at the mall on Sunday and ours is still open. Maybe they are slowly closing them all. It was jammed packed though. You couldn't move. <_<

 

Ours closed about two years ago also. I don't remember where I read or heard this, but I do believe they are phasing them out entirely....closing blocks of them each year until they are all gone. Unfortunately ours was one of the first to go!

ETA: I read a book called Disney War not too long ago that was all about the business aspect of the company. Based on what I read there (although it was published before they started closing stores), I wouldn't be surprised if they've just decided the stores aren't a big enough moneymaker to justify having a whole additional division to worry about....or if the online sales are doing well enough that they figure they can sell as much stuff without having to pay for mall rent? Regardless, it still sucks to not have the store to go into!

 

It seems like they have been closing ever since they became a part of The Children's Place but maybe that is just my perception of timing? One in the distant area is closing in a couple weeks, I heard about it and went rushing to my local store where they said there were no plans to close that one. (same store I paid twice as much for the figurines mentioned in the other thread before they went on sale)

 

I probably didn't word it right saying it was a part of the Children's Place. They are owned by The Children's Place. Disney does not own The Disney Stores.

I didn't realize that. That probably blows my theory of why they're all closing then!
