Twin size frames, mattresses and boxsprings to be delivered today! :)

    I'm part thrilled, part horrified.

Congratulations! And now the fun begins... :D We put ours in toddler beds waaaaaaay too soon but I wish you the best of luck. Mine actually don't do too bad in them now but the first few weeks (yes, weeks) were rough on us.

LOL, I think you're brave for dismantling the cribs before the new furniture is actually delivered!! Here's to good luck with the furniture delivery folks!

Oh, and also good luck with the transition. Please have good things to tell us!!!

    Good luck!

I had a dream last night that our kids were sleeping in toddler beds for the very first time and they did fine. I hope my dream comes true for you! (And yeah, clearly I spend too much time on TS.) :D

How exciting! I'm sure that your girls will do fine. There will be some adjustment but they'll be fine. Ours switched to toddler beds at 2 years old. Then we got them twin beds at 3 years old. They liked being able to stratch out in their big girl beds. Do you have bed rails? We didn't use them but since this is their first transition from the crib maybe they'd feel safer with them.

    Good luck!

Yes. I went out and got them last Sunday when I began the process. I've had them in their cribs without the one side all this week, and it really made me realize how tall they've gotten and how big they are in their cribs. I think they are going to love having all the space.

DH is home, and they haven't arrived yet though (they said between 11:30 and 3). But still. Just get there...BettiePage got me scared.

I didn't bother with headboards at this point because well $$ and because I just wasn't ready to make the decision, so it's just the frame and mattress from the mattress store. I've had good experience with this store (local) after bad bad bad experiences with Sleepy's (not delivering when they should).

Good luck!!! Hope your girls do good with it!! Yours are older so I bet it will work out just great!! How wonderful that you were able to keep them in it that long!!! I am toying with the idea of putting the cribs back up and getting tents...but I really just want to work through this bad phase....

    Good luck!!

They have arrived!!! And the girls are really excited about them!

We did make it until nearly three, so I'm happy about that. And we did have tents and I highly recommend them to everyone! But eventually they were so torn and the zipper on Mel's broke, and then Jade was resisting hers being closed, and well, then there was The Fall. So, that's it.

But yes, this is a major milestone for us and I'll let ya'll know how it goes!!

Brave woman!!!! We just transitioned our girls to their twin beds last weekend. It's been a little crazy, but they've done pretty well. Last night wasn't so good, but I figured there would be good times and bad. We went ahead and kept the baby beds up so that we can put them back in them if they just completely refuse to listen to us and stay in beds. They hate it when they go back in the baby beds, but if we leave them for about 10-20 minutes, they will usually stay in their big girl beds because they know we mean it. Nap times.....well, that's an entirely different issue!! Let's just say, I'm exhausted, but "this too shall pass". :winking0009:

Good luck!! Let us know how it goes!

Congrats on making it to almost 3 years that was a dream of mine...LOL We took down our cribs 2 weeks ago. I think 2 weeks ago and the kids ahve been in toddler beds ever since. nothing soething I wanted to do at 18-19m but it was not hard at all. They love their new beds and I actually think they are sleeping better.
    Good Luck!!

So, how are the girls loving their new beds? Did you find they looked small again. I found that each time one of mine switched to a big bed that they had been looking so huge in their crib or toddler bed but when they moved to a big bed they looked so small again. Congrats on your new beds. Do we get to see some pics of them in their new beds?

Best wishes for tonight and the next several nights. Please keep us posted! I'm SO on the fence about moving them before the baby comes. Just not sure what to do. Definitely NOT ready to let go of the nap and I'm afraid that will happen with the move to beds.

FWIW, they went down happier tonight than they have in MONTHS! Seriously.

There was some happy chatter ("what are you DOING, Melissa?"), some screen-music (Jade is right under the window and is probably loving her newfound access and hence used it as a percussion instrument for oh, about 30 seconds), and then very shortly thereafter SILENCE. No crying, no fighting. Silence. Ahhhhhhhh...

We went downstairs and watched a movie and joked that they were probably playing Monopoly -- I'm like, that would be fine, no crying...

There was an earlier concern where Jade only wanted to be on Melissa's bed. And I thought they might both sleep there -- also fine if it would work, but probably not best. But in the end, when it mattered (bedtime) she got into her bed, we read our stories like usual, and turned out the light. "Night girls, love you..." and no crying...

(I've mentioned before that since taking their pacis from them the day before Easter -- what's that, three months?? -- they've cried nearly every night. Not tonight. They were "SOOOO EXCITED" <== Melissa's own words.

Continues to be ALL GOOD! Last night was just as good as night #1.

I also took them to Bed, Bath and Beyond (since it's so close) to pick out bedding (comforters, etc.) yesterday, and they chose different ones, each SO THEM. I guess it's good to let go of my preconceived notions of the perfectly matching little girls room and let them express their individualities. Both are really cute -- but they look funny together.

Melissa wants to play in her "big bed" a lot. And at naptime today they both crawled into her bed. They actually are staying in the room -- (DH and locked ourselves into ours for a little -- is that bad? ;) )

Anyway, so far so good. I'm shocked at how well this is going so far. Most/many transitions for us have not gone so well.

That's great Marie!!! My girls didn't chose matching bedding either. I didn't mind though. Kelly's is pink with Hello Kitty on it and Kaitlyn's is blue with Tinkerbell. They both love their own stuff! To add to the mish-mosh Kaitlyn loves a set of Strawberry Shortcake sheets that she uses with her Tinkerbell comforter. Hey, as long as they're happy, right? :p
