Disappointing first Mother's Day

I was so excited about my first Mother's Day and had to wait for a long time for this day.
I started telling my husband about 10 days ago how important this is to me. He is from another country where the day is not celebrated.

I was gone all day yesterday and before I left he said that he still hadn't gotten anything for me. I suggested he just take a picture while I was gone and use one of the frames we got as a shower gift. That would have been enough. When I got home he said that I couldn't get a good picture and then promised to give me the day to myself today with a big breakfast.

The babies woke at 5am and I had to do some serious grumbling to remind him of his promise. He did feed, change them and put them back to bed and he went back to sleep. When they woke from their nap he didn't get up and I had to. I changed them and brought them to bed for him to watch so that I could pump.

I am so sad, I just wanted a little something to mark this special day.

I am so sorry. The first mommy's day should be awsome. remember even though the babies are small they appreciate you and think you ROCK!!!!

    HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY. :)

My dh (I think dh stans for dumb husdand sometimes) hardly ever remembers mom's day either. But I just remember how special the day is because I have kids and just being with them makes my day. Now that my older ds is 20 year old he made the day special for me. Him and his fiance made a nice chicken dinner and had me and his nana over for supper. So wait till kiddos are older and they will do something for their special mama.

Thank you for your responses. We had a good talk and he asked if he could try again and for us to make next Sunday Mother's Day.

I just wanted to say I understand your frustration. I'm a single mom so I won't be getting anything for my first mothers day.

I'm glad! For my first mother's day we ended up in the emergency room because my husband cut his finger (trying to do something nice for me, but still!). You will have many more mother's days to come :)
