The thread about vacuuming made me think of this...

I have posted before about Hannah's CP. She is making excellent progress but has not been able to crawl. She is mobile, but does so by pulling herself around on her belly. (She looks kinda like an inchworm) She is starting to pick up her knees more everyday and her PT says she is making great progress. The problem is that it seems no matter how much I clean the floors she is constantly getting her shirts FILTHY! I have started leaving her in her pj's or an older/stained shirt until we are ready to go somewhere, then I change her right before we leave. She loves scooting around and it's really all she can do at this point. It just seems like I think I have the floor clean but she manages to get pretty dirty everyday. I think I'm just going to have start saying no shoes in the house because I think that's causing most of the dirt issue.
Has anybody else dealt with this or have any suggestions on keeping her clean??

We do the "no shoes" in the house thing, too (for our immediate family, we don't ask visitors to take off their shoes). It seems to make such a difference in the amount of dirt that gets tracked in. My parents mop before we come over each time and they wear shoes in their house - and we always laugh b/c the boys' feet are filthy after just an hour or so of playing there even though they had mopped right before we arrived.

My only other suggestion would be to have a bunch of old, cheap t-shirts and for her to wear those around the house instead of ruining her nice clothes.

I'm glad to hear she's making excellent progress! :clapping:

I could not agree more with the no shoes rule. Ever since my twins started crawling around, I decided to ban shoes in the house. It has made a HUGE difference. My carpets are immaculate and when I mop my kitchen floor, the water isn't even really dirty. I used to drive myself crazy steam cleaning my carpet and I couldn't understand why they got so filthy but it was just from wearing shoes in the house. It's really not as much of an inconvenience as I thought it would be, everybody just pops their shoes off now without even thinking about it

Awesome on her progress... every little bit makes you feel soo good doesn't it? We too get EI and PT here for no walking. Anyhow yes since we have a scooter and a crawler here the outfits do get filthy. We do not allow shoes in the house and try to wipe the dogs feet when they come in damp. You didn't say what kind of floors you have but here is what I do. We vaccuum once a week and steam clean the rugs with a machine we have here at home once a month.

For rugless floors: (I swear by this) We have mainly hardwood floors and bathrooms are tiled. I use the Hoover Floormate machine. We got it a few months ago and with shipping it was around $140. You fill the cup with hot water and the detergent and the machine sprays it down and sucks the dirty water back up. The machine is the size of a vacuum, light, and within 10 minutes you can have sparkling floors!! It makes you feel soo good when you get done and see the dirty water in the other cup you have to empty. It cleans like you cannot believe. The day it came in the mail I had just gotten done mopping the whole house the old fashioned way so then I immediately took the machine out and cleaned my floors with it. Holy cow the water that the machine sucked up was disgusting even after I had just mopped! So now I get my machine out weekly and it keeps things soooo clean. A very good investment. I use 1/2 the amount of soap they say though.

Keep up the good work Hannah!

You've gotten some great advice, already. I am so glad that she is making great progress! I have also found adding Oxy Clean to their wash helps get a lot of stains out (they used to have Oxy Clean Baby, not sure if it's off the market but I have not been able to find it, so I use Oxy Clean Free).

Thanks, we have wood floors (well, laminate wood floors) and tile. The bedrooms are carpeted. I'll have to look into that machine! Sounds like it does a great job.

Just wanted to second the Floormate. I've had mine a few years now and I love the thing, but don't get it out as often as I should!
