Hello, I'm new here but have read some threads throughout my pg. Just curious how much longer I might have based on being dilated...My OB doesn't like to make predictions so I guess I just wait and see.

:wavey: Laura!! Welcome to Twinstuff! I hope we get to know you better! :)

As far as when they'll arrive, I don't think there is a definate answer. I walked around 2cm dialated from 34 weeks until 39 weeks with nothing more coming out of that. :pardon: So I think your doctor is smart not making any predictions just yet!! Are you doing a vaginal birth or scheduled c/s?

    Good luck Momma!!

Liz, Thanks for your reply! It's good to know you went weeks dilated with no action. I am hoping to go at least 2 more weeks. I've been on bedrest for 11 weeks now so want it to pay off by them not arriving any sooner than 36 weeks.

Thanks for the welcome! These are our first children. I'm getting nervous for their arrival but very excited.

As of right now they are both vertex but my OB delivered twins today that were vertex yesterday and moved today...so we shall see

Hang in there, you can make it! I stayed 5 cm from 31.5 weeks until my scheduled c-section just before 37 weeks. Just keep hydrated, and rest rest rest, and keep with the positive thoughts!

Hi Laura, welcome to Twinsuff and congrats on your twins. I agree, babies come when they are ready, it is anyone's guess even with you being dilated. It is perfectly normal to feel nervous and excited, that is how I felt and they were even my first.

camdensmommy, That's awesome you made it so far after dilating at that point. I am on bedrest for another two weeks and drink tons of water so hopefully it'll help me out. Thanks for the positive thoughts!

Twinlove, Thanks! I think I can make it, hoping for June babies if possible. Not like it matters but the longer they are in there the better.

summerfun, I can't wait to find out when they decide it's time to arrive. It's funny when I heard "2 cm" I got excited that I was making progress and my famiy and friends were like "Oh no." I think at 34 weeks it's fine to be dilated so am just looking forward to taking it easy for the next few weeks or so.

I know what you mean. With my oldest DD I was 3 cm at 37 weeks and I thought she would come any day then. But she didn't come until 4 weeks later. I thought for sure I was so close, but they have their own time line.

    CONGRATULATIONS on your babies!!!!!

I only dialated to a one w/ my twins BUT with ds #2 - I was dialated to a 3 for a WHILE before he came!! I went home from the dr that day SO knowing that tonight is the night!! but it was like 3 weeks later! I had also lost my plug and was spotting for 3 weeks! I agree with pp - babies come when they are ready!! I have heard of women that never dialate or efface and go into labor and women who are 4 or more and walk around for weeks!!

With my singleton pregnancy, I walked around for a few weeks dilated to 2cm. There really is no way to tell... sorry :(

I've walked around dilated anywhere from 3 to 5 cm for more than a month before. But some people have been 1 cm at the beginning of a day and ended that same day with a birth. It is hard to predict!

I was 2 cm at 32 and 33 weeks, 3 cm at 34 and 35 weeks, 4 cm at 36 and 37 weeks, 4 1/2 cm at 38 weeks and at induction at 38w2d. They were born close to 8lbs a piece ... no wonder I was dialating under all that pressure?!

Thanks for all your responses. It sounds like I have some time before they arrive which is awesome! Either way my bag is packed just in case.

    Wow on 8 lb twins.

I was 2 cm till I was at 37.5 weeks, than shot up to 9cm in two hours. Almost too late for them to give me pain drugs.
