My DD is 2 months and has never been a burper. She also does not sleep well and I am sure it is all of the gas. We have tried Mylicon but it really doesn't help. I have tried burping her every which way but you all know how difficult it is with two of them particularly when/if they are eating at the same time. Does anyone else have one that just does not burp??? My son belches like a truck driver but most times we don't even get ONE lousy burp out of DD!

I have no suggestions because I have the same problem with one of my DDs. It's gotten better as she has got older though. I used to spend 30 minutes trying to get one burp! Just wanted you to know you are not alone!

I have the same problem to. Sometimes i can pat & change their positions a hundred times it seems like and no burps. It is even worse during the middle of the night. I could use some help on this too.

James was a hard burper. He burped easier if his arms were raised so I had to put his chest on my shoulder and make sure his arms were up then pound his butt fairly hard. A few minutes later he would finally burp. He would not burp unless he was in that position. Sometimes you have to experiment with different methods.

My DD had the same problem. FOr weeks I would try and try top no avail. At some point she was dx with reflux and I always wondered if the 2 were connected bec. once she was on the reflux meds. she was a better burper.

I don't know if that helps in your case but I had to tell you because someone mentioned it to me and I poo pooed it because she didn't have the classic signs of reflux.

On another note a friend of mine said she has to burp her son perfectly straight up and down. She holds him in such a way that his legs are also straight..no bend a the tummy at all. It looks like he is on a carry board. It loooks weird but it gets a burp out of him.

    Good luck.

Both of my girls were extremely difficult to burp. Holding them straight up would help sometimes. Also, walking with a little bounce, and patting would sometimes get a burp.

We had the same problem with DS for the longest time. Because he wouldn't burp he would wake up all the time because he had one stuck. We would rub up his back, pat him, and even got to the point where we would bouncy him. Eventually he would give it up. I wouldn't put him back to sleep without a burp and sometimes it took FOREVER!

I am not sure if you nurse or give a bottle, but my babies are on formula, so I started mixing it up for a 24 hour period. That way the bubbles started to settle and he wasn't drinking as many. I also went to Dr. Brown's bottles. A combination of everything seemed to help.

My DD was a difficult burper. Instead of "trying" to burp her by patting her back, I learned to lie her down on her back for a few minutes. When she started to fuss about a little bit, I would pick her up and that always seemed to release the gas bubble. Give it a shot!

Yep, we had a hard one too. We would have to work so hard to get one out of Emma. I used to try every method in the book too we found that sitting her up and rolling her around at the waist seemed to work sometimes.

I agree with PP...the boys quit BF about three weeks ago and I make up a whole days worth of bottles at a time to give them time to settle. Dr. also suggested that if I don't get a burp, let their "food" settle a bit and then put them on their tummy...this always seems to get big burps out of them both!

We also had great difficulty in burping the boys. They would spit up quite a bit, but getting a good belch was almost impossible. It did start to improve, after 3 months. I'd try putting them in different positions, momentarily (lie down, then pick up, put on tummy, etc.) and that also helped sometimes.

Our oldest was unburpable. So we just didn't burp anymore and everything was cool! This time around, we had to switch peds and their office says burping is optional and that if you do it, you should stop at 5-6 months (at that age, they can easily clear their own bubbles). Who knew?We did burp our twins for a few months, but they were easy burpers.

DS is kind of a hard burper. The best method we've found is to put him on our chest, kangaroo style. And he just does it.

My 2 were both difficult burpers but with my son we found the hula hue worked to burp him and my DD if you took your thumb and placed it on her collar bone and rubbed your finger along the muscle behind her neck she would burp(our ped. said this works w/ most babies because their muscles in their next our so tense it relaxes them enough to burp.

Kevin always would throw it up later because he would not burp. You may want to ask your doctor about that in case esp. if they spit up alot because of it.

We had three really difficult burpers. We went to the Dr. Brown's bottles, and then they would burp. I don't know why that worked, but it did for us. Good luck!

My DS was like that it could take up to an hour to burp him and it was a nightmare. Gripe water worked for a while then my doctor gave us something called infacol which worked brilliant. x
