My girls have nights when one will be sound asleep and the other is giggly and bouncing around. I usually end up handing over a book to "read" with the lights on low.

I've tried putting one to bed without the other, but curiosity always gets the better of them. They HAVE to know what's going on with sister, so I find being in the same place best.

one of mine, goes to bed much easier than the other, sometimes, it is easier to put her to sleep before her sister, she always falls asleep before her sister, i just let the other one stay up and entertain herself in a safe environment

Are they in the same room? Can you separate them?

Shortly after my boys turned 4 and my one DS woke up at 6:00 a.m.(they usually woke between 7:30-8:00) and then woke up his brother, then me, I decided it was time for separate rooms. I thought they would freak out by not having each other, but they LOVED it and still do.

That's how it was when they were in the same room. Even when they were sick, if their brother was not in the room, they would not sleep. :gah:

I too had one that would fall asleep faster and as long as his brother stayed in his bed, I allowed him to entertain himself.

I agree with PP. Different bedtimes are easier if the twins have separate bedrooms. Depending on the length of your bedtime routine it also means that you need a place for the one staying awake to play safely and quietly (or another adult to supervise); we do not have any other room child proofed enough that I could leave them there alone for the 45 minutes or so that our bedtime routine takes. For the one staying awake longer we do the routine in our bedroom and then ask him or her to sneak quietly into the children's bedroom which works well.
