What are your diets like? I’m about 20 weeks along and I have the same appetite I had before getting pregnant. I do find myself snacking more though out the day on fruits etc. My body type is small and I keep wondering how I’m going to accommodate two babies. Should I be eating more?

My appetite hasn't decreased either - I actually eat more now than I did pre-pregnancy. It wasn't a problem until recently. Now I find that when I overeat, it feels like my insides are pushing against my ribs and causing discomfort. I've put on 33 lbs by 24 weeks but my OB isn't worried because I was thin to begin with.

I would say eat what you want to eat but be smart about it. I'll be the first to admit that I haven't exactly been watching my diet - I eat alot of sugar, but my OB says that everything looks fine. I would also recommend eating smaller meals rather than gorging yourself twice a day and snacking in between.

    HTH!

As long as you are eating the right things, your body will let you know how much it needs. If you eat too much you will feel absolutly stuffed and then everything hurts. I learned that the hard way, but my body adjusted. My biggest thing was as I started to get less active I had to make sure I didn't eat out of boredome. It caught up with me when I gained 9 lbs in 2 weeks I really had to slow down.

I think I am similar to you because I don't feel I eat much more than I did before I got pregnant either. I may have a bit more when I snack, but I dont' feel like I am eating enough, but then again I am not always that hungry. We started taking a "Marvelous Multiples" class and according to that I am so not eating enough!! I think in the long run if you feel good and the Dr isn't worried then it is okay...a good idea that the class had was to add powdered milk to some things for extra protein (add it to your cereal, ice cream, pudding, yogurt etc...or add peanut butter to some things).

I think the rule of thumb is that as long as you eat the right things, you should eat as much as you can. Fit in as much fruit, vegetables, unprocessed meat and fish, wholemeal grains, milk etc as you can. Eat your favorites so you're more likely to eat a goodsized meal.

Also optimize your less wholesome snacks as you can - for instance, eat icecream (which will give you calcium and protein in addition to satisfying your sweet tooth) instead of sugary sweets or licorice.

If you're worried about protein which I think may be the hardest thing to get enough of, try counting how much you get for a few days - and if you don't get enough, think of ways to add more.

    Good luck [IMG]

    Thank you!
I’m 20 weeks along and gained 13 pounds so far… my OB didn’t seem concerned either. I just feel like I’m not eating enough. Does anyone have suggestions for snacks or recipes for dinner meals? I’m still working and I find it hard to figure out what to bring for lunches every day. I used to eat a lot of sandwiches but I’ve been trying to stay a way from sandwich meat.

This is just a little thing, but those cottage cheese doubles are great for snacking on the go and can be packed easily for lunch if you have access to a refridgerator. They are a great source of protein. I do a lot of granola bars, cottage cheese, string cheese, apples, bananas, ...all great for "on the go" snacking. I also find that good old fashioned quaker oats for breakfast keeps me satisfied for quite a bit. I add some blueberries or banana or even granola and skim milk to it. Dinner is so different for everyone but I always just make sure I have a protein (chicken or pork or something like that) a veggie and a starch and that makes me feel like I am getting what I need. I will have to say that I do need a bit of dessert every night but I have always been that way!

    Happy eating
