I had quite a few people buy we preemie size baby clothes for the baby shower, so I was just wondering if your twins were small enough to wear them and when they were born....

Mine wore a couple of preemie and newborn outfits as they were swimming in 0-3 month stuff but it all really depends. They could fit newborn sized stuff (onesies and sleepers) for the first 2 months then we moved to 0-3 month stuff.

Mine were born at 36 weeks and were 5lbs 14oz and 19 3/4inches long each.

Yes, they wore them for their first 7-8 weeks, but they were born 9 weeks early.

My girls did they were born at 36.1wks and weighed 4.14lbs. We also had to go out and buy premie diapers b/c the newborn ones were so huge on them. I think they were only in the clothes for a few weeks till we switched to newborn but it was worth having the premie ones so they weren't lost in their clothes. I think the only thing you really need premie are a few pj's that's what they wear in the beginning anyway.

Mine could have used some preemie clothes for the first month or so. They were born full-term (just shy of 37 weeks) and 6 lbs each, so they were fairly big for twins, but they still swam in their newborn clothes.

However, we would not have used any fancy preemie clothes. They pretty much wore only sleepers for the first 8 weeks -- even a onesie, let alone a dress or an "outfit," seemed like far too much trouble for babies who did nothing but eat, cry, and sleep, and rarely left the house. (That might just be me, though -- I know some people really enjoy dressing their babies up.)

A friend bought us some preemie sized "dress-up sleepers" (very soft white fleece with fancy trim) for them to wear on Christmas -- they were 5 weeks old -- and that was perfect. :)

If you did get lots of fancy preemie outfits, I'd save them (with tags on) so you can return them later for something more useful. The same goes for any size clothes, really -- don't cut the tags off until you're sure you're going to use them. I returned a whole bunch of 0-3 and 3-6 month stuff at Baby Gap when my girls were 6 months old and got an $80 credit!

My girls were in preemie clothes for around 6-8 weeks (wished I would have had more!).
    They were born at almost 38 weeks & weighed 6lbs & 4lbs 10oz :)

My twins wore preemie clothes for the first 3 months (12 wks early), I guess it all depends on their size (the babies) and the cut of the clothes.

Mine wore preemie stuff and they were born at 36 wks. They were 4.1 and 5.5. so even preemie stuff was kinda big at first.

Mine barely fit into newborn clothes when they were born at 38 weeks @ 7lbs, 7oz & 7lbs, 11oz. I would personally keep any gift receipts and leave the tags on until you know for sure. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well.

No preemie size for us, though I suppose they could have "fit" since they came home a little over 6lbs. They quickly outgrew 0-3 months and went into 3-6months as they gained weight REALLY fast (over 14lbs at 2 months). You just never know how they'll grow.

It really all depends on the babies like others have said.

Mine were born at 36w4d, DD (A) was 5lbs10oz and DS (B) was 5lbs7oz. Both were 18 inches long. We did use preemie and newborn sizes for several weeks. And actually, I bought their coming home outfits in Newborn size and that was a little big for bringing them home.

But if you have bigger babies, you won't get as much use from the smaller sizes.

Yes, for quite some time... born at 29 weeks, 1.8 lbs, and 2.0 lbs, they came home at 4.5 lbs each... so at least 2 months of preemie diapers/clothing.

Nope. T&T were 6 & 6 1/2 pounds, 19.75" long (39 weekers). The preemie clothes we received were fine width-wise but everything was one-piece sleepers so the length wasn't forgiving. They wore NB home and grew out of most of those in a couple of weeks. Their twin cousins were born at 34 weeks and wore preemie for about 6 weeks. You just never know.

Yes they did, for about the first 6 weeks or so they had to wear preemies because everything else was way too large. They were fairly good size considering they were a month early.

Mine were born at 38+5 and they wore preemie stuff for the first month. The 0-3's were too big. They fit but looked too baggy. The preemie stuff doesn't last long but it looks more "tailored" when they are first born.

yes, they wore them for a little while, but we definitely had too many in that size... at first they were falling off of their little bodies, but once they started growing quickly they sailed right into 0-3 mos... we had several because we were bringing them to the NICU everyday to switch out with the old stuff to be washed

yes, but not for too long. Ithink I only had a few premeie clothes and that's all I needed. for the first few weeks they mostly just wore gowns since that makes changing them so easy.

My twins were born at 36+5 and weighed 5/5 & 5/12 and were 19 in. at birth. The NB clothes I have for them are still WAY too big right now (they are a month old and nearing 7 lbs. now). My older daughter weighed 7/4 at birth and she would have fit in preemie clothes for at least the first month...but I think my kids are slow growers. I had to go out and buy a lot more preemie clothes after the twins were born...Wal-Mart sells a lot of cheap preemie onesies that are a great fit.

I only had 0-3 month clothes and had to buy some newborn outfits which they were only in for about 2/3 months. They were 6lbs 10ozs each, 19 inches long and born at 39 weeks 2 days. I do remember rolling up the pants and shirts when they were first born in the Newborn size but by 3 months they were in the 0-3 size. It's really hard to judge because you have no idea when they will be born but I would just keep the few preemie outfits and buy a few newborn sizes mine spent alot of time in sleepers, either way they probably won't spend much time in either size. GL!

My girls wore them for 2 weeks, the weeks they were in the NICU. They swam in the NB size but they were too long for preemie clothes - so it's not just the weight of the baby.

Each had 3-4 footie outfits. That was enough
