Did your "boy" turn out to be a girl?

Hi everyone! I am 14 weeks 6 days pregnant with twins, and yesterday we were fortunate enough to have the ultrasound tech guess at our ultrasound that we are having two boys! Since my husband and I don't have a preference about what we have, we are both so excited! We aren't ready to run out and buy all blue yet; we're going to wait for it to be confirmed at a later ultrasound. The tech said that she was pretty sure with baby B, but not quite as sure on baby A, although even I could see "little nubs" on both of them! I know that it is more likely to mis-guess a boy as a girl, and I am wondering if any of you were told that you were having a boy early on and then later found out that it was a girl. Or if we see that "little nub" is that a pretty good indication that it is a boy? The tech said that it could have been the umbilical cord? Thanks in advance!

    Hey,

I asked the same exact question right after my NT scan too! the ultrasound tech had taken pics of the "boy stuff" and was pretty sure it was a boy. when i went for the next scan at 17 weeks, she had forgotten that she had told me she thought one was a boy and said that she thinks with 90% certainity that both are girls, but the fact that she had said boys the first time makes things more uncertain now.

Anyhow here is a link to my original post if you want to see more answers

I'm not sure. We couldn't decide if we wanted to know what we were having, so we compromised at our 18 wk u/s. We asked if they were one of each or the same. We were told the same - so not sure if they thought we were having girls or boys. We ended up with one of each. It was the best surprise! I'm sure if we had asked at later ultrasounds they would have eventually caught their mistake. But we never asked again after that point.

At my NT scan the tech was 80% sure we were having two boys. Yesturday at 17 weeks, it was definitely two boys. I even have pictures of their boy parts.

Nope my boy stayed a boy. :) Actually at 13w1d the u/s tech said she *thought* baby B was a boy, looked a little thick between the legs. Of course we didn't put much stock in it at that point. But she was right, Baby B was a boy!

I had a lady on one of the other forums that im on be told that she was going to have a boy at 16w and then was told a girl at her 20w u/s.

From what i understand alot of the gentialia look the same early on. Not that some body experienced can guess, my perinatolgist guessed girls early at 12w and they stayed that way. I think it depends on the equipment and the person doing the u/s.

Here is a link that kinda shows how they look alike..

I did not have that experience. However I remember when we were having the c-section done, the way Luke (baby B) was situated, the doctor was saying, "Wait a minute, are you a Luke or a Lucy?" I remember thinking to myself, "Now, that would be hilarious." Once they got him out they confirmed he was definitely a Luke :)

i was dieing to know with our new baby since we already had twin boys, so at 12 weeks i asked the u/s tech to scan that area even though she refused to guess for us. he was clearly a boy. i showed my ob the u/s pics when i saw him an hour later & he said boy. sure enough, i've got 3 boys!

Our MFM said she "thought" she saw boy at 14w6d. Two weeks later the ultrasound tech said she didn't think she saw boy - then two weeks later said she thought girl. We now know that they are definitely girls, so they can be wrong that early. I thought if they saw boy it was much less likely to be wrong, but I think you're right not to go on a blue spending spree :)

Yes, that link was great, and really interesting!

Thanks so much, everyone, for all your replies and experiences- it is so hard to wait to know for sure and start buying things and doing the nursery, but I guess that with so many of you having the gender "change" I am definitely better off waiting, as hard as it may be!

kumphort, thanks for the link to your post as well, that too was very helpful. Do you know with any more certainty what you are having now? I hope you get what you want!

    Happy and healthy pregnancy everyone!

[SIZE=10pt]My boy didn't turn out to be a girl...but my girl did turn out to be a boy!

At 18 weeks the U/S tech said that we were having twin girls. We were excited and did go out and start buying a few things. A few weeks later during our Echocardiogram U/S we asked the tech if he could get any pictures for us. He started looking around and got this puzzled look on his face. A minute later he said, "Hmmm ~ looks like Baby B grew something" :rotflmbo: He showed us and YEP, there was something there. Needless to say we asked for confirmation at every U/S after that and DD ended up having a few 'duplicates' of things.

    April :)

It may be a little early for a definate answer, so I wouldn't trust it until it was confirmed at a later scan. Google in-gender, the site talks a lot about gender and you can upload your sonogram and have people guess at the gender, it's a fun site.
I hope you get what you want!

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy! :D :D

I was told boy/girl at 14 ish weeks--then 2 girls around 16 weeks....and we got 2 girls! I was a bit worried that they might still switch on us and asked EVERY u/s what they saw....LOL.
