I need to know cuz our appt is Thursday and I thought we were SHOT FREE so I'm going solo!! UH OH!!

Please tell me there are no shots this time. Do they prick their fingers for a hemoglobin?

    Thank you in advance :)

Our boys had their 9 month appointment last Tuesday and they didn't get any shots. I think it's 3 months, 6 months and then nothing until their first birthday. You can look up the vaccination schedule for your state, though.

No they don't usually give shots at the 9 month apt unless you have missed a few or are on a delay/selective schedule.

We didn't get any at 9 months, but if in doubt, call your pedi! GL going solo on Thursday... I haven't been brave enough to try that yet :)

At our 9 month appointment, the boys had one shot. We missed one of their shots when the "recall" happened back in the spring. Can’t remember which one it was though,

I'm another one whose babes didn't get any shots at 9 months. I would definately call before Thursday to double check! :)

We did get a shot at 9 months (just one). With my older son he didn't have any at 9 months so I asked about it with the girls and they said that they changed the schedule since my son was born and now give one at 9 months. Can't remember if it was a new one or another booster of one of the ones they already had. So I would call and ask since it sounds like some docs do and some don't.

Our 9 month was Friday and they got a Hep B and Polio. There's a 3 in 1 (HiB) that they were supposed to get at 4 months but there was a shortage and they ended up only getting 1 component. I was a bit miffed as I did go solo and really don't recall having that explained to me at the 4 mo appt but I'm not gonna lie, they coulda' told me and I just don't remember. I was expecting to walk out shot free with 2 happy babies. Didn't happen. Makenna also ran fever the next day while the hand out said to expect little to no fever. <_< Good to know my child is wired a bit differently.

Good luck! Hope you escape shot free.

Our 9 month visit will be a finger prick to check for anemia, which in my opinion is just as bad as getting a shot, at least it was for my dd and for Van when he was 3 months old (there's something about sticking your finger that really hurts- plus they have to squeeze it to get the blood out)... sorry, I don't at all mean to scare you, but if you're going alone, it might be tough comforting 2 babies w/o help. Good luck!!

We had their 9-month appt last week and they received the Hep B shot. No others. Good luck!

    Da*m!

I know about the finger prick and that makes me ALMOST as nervous as the shots. Almost. I do not allow anyone to prick my finger. That is how bad it hurts ME!!!!!!!!!!!! When they need a hemoglobin.. i make them take it from my arm. The Docs always look at me like I'm a fricking lunatic, but I don't care. The whole finger prick makes me want to faint. Ugh.

I called the Doc and left message. I never get called back tho. Shoot! I will be alone, I am pretty sure. Not cool.

Weird how some get it and some don't. I know they DID have the Hib at their 6 month and they had FOUR shots that time. Nice. That was HORRIFIC the next two days.

We did not get any at 9 months and got 3 at 2, 4 and 6 months along with the nasty one they have to drink.

So far we have had 9 shots and are totally up to date. At 12 months we will be doing 2 shots and at 18 2 more.

    Good Luck

Also we didnt have to do the finger prick as we were strictly on formula by then. Our Ped said we would do it at 15 months after they have been on milk for 6 months.

Our dr. is planning on giving our babies shots at the 9 month appt. However, we have been spreading out their vaccinations.

No shots and no finger pricks either. I think that's just for bfed babies. GL going alone. DH has only come to one appt. with me. This last time, the doc. took 30 mins to come see us after the boys were weighed and measured. UGH! I think I sang "itsy bitsy spider" 20 times! Bring toys!

NO shots... Just finger pokes. They were behind on one shot and they wanted to give it then but I said no because they had been sick. So our 12 month visit was a nightmare and they are still having side effects from the shots.

No shot & our Dr didn't do the finger prick. We had to have a full blood draw for the hemoglobin. Good thing daddy volunteered for that one. I was told it was a finger prick, but different story when he got there.

Ask them to prick the toes!! Much easier than a finger stick. And if they're still using the old fashioned stick to prick, tell them to move into the 20th century and use a lancet device like diabetics use.

Anyway, for us it was the 3rd hepB shot and toe sticks.

Our 9 mo was great...no pokes at all! Our 12 mo includes shots & a finger prick.

Crazy how different docs are different, huh?

Dude... They can do the toe??????????????? I think that would be MUCH better!! I'll ask for that. That still makes me dizzy tho. OUCH! And they better use a good pricker..

    Poor babies.

I've never heard of the toe getting pricked, but I think that would definitely be less painful. The second anemia check they did on Van I asked them to do the heel because the finger really bothered him- they said they'd try but if they couldn't get enough or if it coagulated too quickly they'd have to do the finger... thankfully the heel stick worked out great- way better than the finger stick! I'm going to try to get them to the heel stick again for their 9 month anemia check, though I'm not sure they will- it was ped's who did the finger stick on Van at 3 months and a lab who did his heel the same day... Good luck!!!! And I don't think it matters whether or not their breastfed (at least at my ped's it doesn't- my dd was bf and my boys are formula fed and everyone's getting the stick!)

Hey girlie! We went last Friday and nuttin' -- no shot or finger stick. But, like someone else mentioned, we were stuck there FOREVER. So long that we went from feeding time through nap. When the doctor finally came in, the babies were alseep in their stroller. Cost me a small fortune in parking. Grrrrr. . .but I digress. . .

Okay. So.. Nurse called me back and NO SHOTs & NO finger stick! All of that is at a year!! Nice. Thank Heavens.

Thanks for all of your responses girls. It's good to know that everyone has different "rules" at their Doc office and YES I will be asking for foot/heel pricks. On myself ALSO lol :)
