I'm trying to figure out what to do. I replaced the 2pm bottle with a formula sippy and they are not taking much of it (maybe 1oz). So when I start to introduce milk I'm wondering if I should have the other 2 bottles switched to sippies first or make the move towards milk in the bottles then once they are switched to all milk replace the bottles with sippies. I am so worried they are not getting enough formula b/c I replaced the 2pm bottle with a sippie. I give them a snack to hopefully get calories into them...what did you do?

I think everyone does this differently. I never put regular milk in bottles. We went from formula in bottles, to formula in sippies, to 1/2 and 1/2, to milk in sippies.

I making the switch now by putting formula in their sippies (we're off bottles as of a few weeks ago), been doing 1/2 and 1/2 for about a week and now mostly milk with some formula. Hoping to be off formula totally in a few days.

Were they good with the sippy prior to the switch? Would they take a lot of water out of it? You may need to try a different sippy cup. Jonah hated the Gerber no handles at first, and Morgan hated the Nuby's. Now they'll pretty much take anything with milk or formula, but at first it had to be those Playtex two handle ones. Water could be anything, but formula (especially the morning one) had to be Playtex. Weird, but that's what happened. :D

I did it in the bottles first but with my first child I did like Becky did. I think it was easier to get my first son off the bottle too so maybe the formula in sippies is a better idea.

    Hi,

My girls are refusing the sippy cups all the time! I give water/juice in it. Which one do you suggest?

    Thanks

I think I'm the odd one out here. I went straight to milk in sippies and tossed the bottles and formula all in the same day. Luckily, it only took my girls about a week to adjust (no crying, just not too much drinking at first) and we never looked back.

We went to half juice/half water or just water. Then we went to milk only from sippies. We never did formula or any milk/formula mix in sippies.

We started with the first years take and toss ones that end up with water is in the cup all over the place, but they are easy to drink from. Once they got the hang of it, we went to the Gerber color change ones.

I started giving water in sippies at about 6-7 months. When I started with whole milk (9 or 10 months), I put it right in the sippy cups. I always gave formula in bottles, but nothing else. We were off the formula and bottles by 13 months.
