Did you name your babies before they were born?

I went by alphabetical order: twin A was Evan and twin B was James. Evan was a crazy wiggler and James was so chilled out I used to wonder if he was still in there! They were the same for the first couple of months but now they seemed to have switched personalities.

We had definitely decided on Zachary before we got to the hospital but were still flip flopping btwn Joseph and Thomas...decided on Joseph before the c-sect but didn't pick who was which until the next day...had to observe the babies to decide who was who...I pretty much decided at about 1 am when I finally got to get into a wheelchair and into the NICU to hold Joseph for the first time. Gary agreed with me when he got back to the hospital at 8:30.

We said thee first baby would "A" would be Baylie & "B" would be Carlie (our son is Alexander) WELL baby 'A' had been head down for weeks... then at the last minute well I was in labor she flipped transverse & became baby B!!! We joked that she decided she wanted to be Carlie not Baylie

We knew early on that Baby A was a boy and we had both agreed on Nathan. We found out Baby B was a boy as well and it took a long time before we found a name that we both liked...so for the longest time we had "Nathan and the other one"! :acute:

Yes. We had Kevin and Patrick as names and I picked them based on Baby A being a quieter and gentler in utero... hence Kevin which means gentle. Of course, now I wonder about that since he is anything but gentle. ;)

We named baby A Katie and baby B Carli. Katie was the one on the bottom and Carli was the one on top. I told the Dr. to be sure and take them out in the right order so they wouldn't get confused!

We also named them in utero - Baby A was Sarah, Baby B was Cate. Cate kicked me a lot, so I thought she was going to be the troublemaker, but actually, Sarah turned out to be the mischievous one. We still got their names right, though - Sarah means princess, and boy does she think she is! And Cate means pure and light, and she is our sweet little laid-back aloha girl.

Nope ... we were suprised on the sexes, so we brought a list of a few boy and girl names that we had settled on to the hospital. After they were born, DH decided that Chase looked like a "Chase" right off the bat and I agreed, and he wasn't sure about the other one, who was in the NICU overnight for an infection. I got to see him the next day and started bawling and said "He's Connor!" :) We did middle names later that day, I think ... Connor Daniel (after my dad) and Chase Maverick (because it's the name of the bar we met at and it's cool ;) )

We had two names picked out, but DH refused to assign the names until we saw them. Well I saw them for a second when the peri showed them to me over the c-section screen, then the NICU staff took them into the next room. They looked exactly the same to me in that brief glimpse. When DH went in the room with them, he assigned the names. He was right on though - their names totally fit them. It was all DH in the assigning though, I was getting sewn up!

All of our's were named before I gave birth. I liked the idea of having a name to call them while they were in the womb so I could refer to them as Andrew/Blake/Reese/Riley. And, it was really interesting to me because when they (well, Andrew and Blake anyway) born, they fit the part. :) It was kinda neat.

We've decided that A will be Reese and B will be Riley, unless I change my mind upon seeing them.

We were surprised on the sexes too, so we had two boy names and two girl names picked. When baby "A" came out I said "Uh.. I guess "A" for Auburn?" Nicole got to be Nicole by default :)

Add us to the named before birth list. A - Beth (Elizabeth Ann) was our name for a girl before we knew we were having twins. B - Jackie (Jacqueline Roberta) was named for her Granpas because she kicked the living daylights out of me every time I gave my Dad grief. (BTW Maggie is named after her Granmas) Before we knew they were girls, however, they were Chip and Dale from the cartoon.

Yup! Baby A is Jonathan (DH's middle name) and we named Baby B James (DH's brother's middle name). I don't know why, but when we found out we were having twins, I totally expected to have a boy and a girl. I was THRILLED to find out we were having two healthy boys, but didn't have another boy name! It was "Jonathan and Baby B" for about a week! :)

Well, I don't know anything about choosing which twin will have which name, but about naming kids in utero, my younger sister was going to be named Claire Marie throughout my mom's whole pregnancy. But, my sister was a 10 pound baby, and when she was born, my mom looked at her and said "She justdoesn't look like a Claire Marie." She was really chubby and my mom always thought of Claire as a girl who was petite and like, dainty. So, a day after my sister was born, her name was changed to Maria Claire.

It ended up being kind of funny because she looks latino but both sides of my family is European. So, it fits. :D

As for, me, my mom knew she was going to name her 1st daughter Joanna since she was a little girl. There was no reason, she just liked the name. But, they never did figure out a boy name for me, so they were glad I was a girl because I would have been nameless if i was a boy. :rotflmbo:

I went with baby A being Lily and B being Mia. But I always knew who was who because Lily was always on my left side and Mia was always on my right. From the beginning.

We knew Baby B was a boy early on (15 weeks) and we had decided on the name Jonas. Then DH was convinced that Baby A was a girl and kept calling him Zoe...come to find out at 22 weeks that Baby A was a boy and his name became Lucas. They never switched positions and so they were named. We didn't tell anyone the names until they were born.

Well, DH picked out Kaylee Jane after his mom Mary Jane on our anniversary, when I was barely 2 months. As for me, I had a really hard time with names. I went thru so many, but settled on Sarah in January. I knew Kaylee would be baby A, b/c she was always on my R side & was always moving. Since DH is "twitchy" as I call him :), I knew she would be like him & gave her the name he had picked out. As for Baby B "Sarah Elizabeth" (after his two aunts Sarah & Elizabeth, & my great grandma Elizabeth.) I decided on her name in Jan when we had a horrible scare with her. The doc thought she had stopped growing & we would have to deliver at 29 weeks. I prayed so hard all week!!! We went to the Neotatologist the next week & everything was ok thank GOD!!!! But I had to wait almost an entire week before I knew. I hadn't settled on the first name, so I kept going thru the baby books & came across Sarah, which can also mean "Gods Gift". Then that Sunday while at Mass praying, I kept referring to her as "Sarah". So I thought it was a sign & from that Sunday on she was Sarah Elizabeth. :)

  19. We came up with individual names. DH came up with Brooke Sophia because he liked those names...so he got baby A. I liked more unique names and wanted to use a family name so I got Braelynn Sandra for baby B.

Baby A got the name Sarah because DH and I agreed on it first. So for a while we had Sarah and Baby B, before we finally agreed on Amy. Sarah was always on the bottom and Amy on the top, so there was no danger of losing track of who was Baby A.

We had the name Kiera Elizabeth picked out first, Elizabeth for DHs late mom, so when we found out it was girls we picked Kamryn Ann, Ann after my mom. We gave Kiera to baby A because we had that name first.

I also have an Evan. Good name choice. :D It was a little easier for us we have a boy and a girl, but we did have their names picked out before they were born.

Baby B showed the goods at 17 weeks, A was shy. By then we only had one name picked out so Baby B got to be Piper. Baby A was going to be Payton whether she was a girl or boy. She showed the goods at 21 weeks :)

We're naming them Matthew Paul and Christopher Timothy - Paul and Timothy after the apostles who worked together in Ephesus. I figure that one day it will hopefully encourage "brotherly teamwork". :) Christopher is the smaller one of the two.

We found out at 17 or so weeks that Baby B was definitely a boy, and Baby A was most likely also a boy. Since Kellan was our first choice on a boy's name, we assigned that to Baby B, and gave Baby A (who we found out a few weeks later was definitely also a boy) the name Ethan (which we also loved, just hadn't had in our name pool since we never guessed we'd eventually need 4 boy names!)

We had Ainsley's name picked out for years, so Baby A is Ainsley. It took awhile after the "Big US" to find Annika's name because I wanted to love both names. Theywere different sizes and never changed positions in utero so it was easy!

We had their names picked after months of compromise, and after reading three baby name books. It wasn't easy b/c my DH wanted his picks and I wanted mine...

We didn't really talk about names too much until we found out they were girls, though DH did decide early on that he wanted both names to start with a B (because we both have B names). I wanted them to be less than 2 syllables, unique but easy to spell and no more than 7 letters long. So that really narrowed things down!

The name Baylinn just came to me one day and we both liked it (it's a combo of Tampa Bay where we live and Linn for my middle name). We assigned it to Baby B because we thought it sounded like a calm name and she was NOT calm while in the womb. Baby A was much harder for some reason. I found Breena on a baby name website (It means Fairy Land in Celtic). It was one of the only names that met my criteria and that DH and I could agree on.

We didn't tell anyone the names before they were born and I was weirdly superstitious about using their names before they were born too. We called them A and B even after we had picked their names. There was no question after they came out who was who. The names totally fit their personalities!!

We named the girls before they were born and we decided to give Baby B the stronger name, Sierra, since she was much smaller than her sister due to TTTS.

Ours were picked before they were born also. Baby A (Emma) was always very quiet in the womb and stayed head down the last 2 months. Baby B was very active, always kicking her sister and doing somersaults in the womb- we named her Caitlin and call her Cate for short. Their personalities after they were born were the same- Emma is quiet, laid back and Cate is always making noise about something and rolling around 24/7. They are 7 months old today !!!!

Before we found out we were having twins, we had already picked out a girl name - Gina Marie (and were still debating on a boys name). Wen we found out we were having two, we tried to find a name that would go good with Gina. Baby A was given our original name of Gina Marie, and our second baby - Baby B was given the name Dina Maire. We began calling them by their names before they were born to make sure we REALLY liked them before we were stuck with the names forever!!

(BTW, if they were boys, they would have been named Michael Joseph and Anthony Chrisopher.)

We just decided using the biggest baby name book we could buy. So, well before they were born we knew that Twin A was going to be Kellen Arman and Twin B would be Colby Kian (B - colBy . . .)
