Did you lose your mucus plug all at once or gradually?

I'm wondering how many of you lost your mucus plug all at once or gradually over time? Also, if you don't mind sharing, what did it look like? I had a sceduled c-section with my DS, so I never lost mine that time. I know this is tmi, but since Saturday I have had some increased mucus that I'm thinking is part of my plug, but I'm not sure. There is no blood and my doctor won't stop labor at this point anyway, so it's not a big deal, but I'm just curious. Thanks!

don't know if it's different with twins- haven't gone into labor yet.
with my two singletons, i never noticed a "plug" or bloody discharge at all. i did notice increased clear/white discharge in the days/weeks preceding labor, but nothing that would indicate bloody show or a mucous plug. my water broke with both babies: DD 8 days early, DS 10 days early. throughout both labors, there was nothing. so very possibly, you could be losing your plug gradually, IMO. good luck! how far a long are you? i am 34 weeks and SO FREAKIN' READY it's not even funny.

Mine was all at once...right when my water broke. I was sitting on the couch and felt like one of the babies "plucked" me...went to the bathroom and first a big (sorry tmi) mucusy blob and moments later I was gushing water. Wish someone had told me about the "pluck" sensation when your water breaks...I thought it was just a really strong kick!

I'm 35 weeks, so I'm thinking it is the plug gradually coming out. I'd like to keep them in until at least 36 week because one of my guys is still little.

Thanks for the heads up on the "pluck" sensation. I'll be looking out for it!

I lost mine in pieces and it looked like thick chunks of mucous. I was told not to worry about it, that with Twin pregnancies you have an increased amount of mucous and its very common for it to come out in pieces. I didn't deliver for 4 weeks after I lost it.

I remember wiping after going to the bathroom and there were some small pieces of gel-like stuff.
I was around 31 weeks. I was freaking out, called the doctor, and they said it wasn't a big deal, that you
lose it gradually and can regenerate.
I had a little again at 35 weeks and 1 day. Then at 35 weeks 5 days, I was having terrible cramps, went to
the bathroom and that same gel stuff was coming out, but this time it had a little blood (pink), five minutes later
    my water broke.
My did not look like mucuous to me. Mine was more like gel. It was so weird!

I started having alot of discharge for a few days and then it was one big clump. I was in the hospital with pre-term labor and the nurse said that was the mucus plug - 2 weeks later my water broke.

I never had blood in my mucus plug I had an increase in mucusy discharge for about 6 weeks than the day before labor I had two very large clumps just fall out it was a clearish yellow and in the shape of a cork.

Mine fell out in pieces. I never felt anything. For like 2-3 days (about 5 days before I started having small contractions) when I would go to the bathroom there would be these really THICK yellow tinged mucus blobs. It's different than discharge.....much thicker consistency. It is definitely one of the "weirder" things of pg I experienced!!

I didn't lose mine with my daughter, but when i was 35 weeks 4 days with the twins...i went to the bathroom and right after i wiped, this "plop" sound happened. I looked in the toilet and a big round "plug" of mucus was just sitting there. No bloody discharge, just clear/whitish. From what i have read at the time....when there is bloody discharge with it~~~> you more than likely will go into labor 24 hours from the time you lose the whole thing....if there isn't any blood and you lose the whole thing~~~> you should go into labor within two weeks.
