I don't know if you remember I posted a while back about RLP. Well, they never totally went away and I was feeling really good all day yesterday. I could at least get out of bed to make a snack. Then as it got later in the night the pain came back it hurt so bad to turn from side to side. Well, this morning I tried to get out of bed to go to my second home (the bathroom) I could not believe it I could not lift my right leg. I ended up holding on to the walls and door ways to make it as I was dragging my leg behind. [IMG] It hurt so bad. I told dh that I feel like I need a wheel chair. [IMG]Have any of you ladies had trouble walking and what did you do to help you get around? I really could use any advise that would help. I still have a way to go before my babies arrive. TIA

by about 30 weeks, I couldn't walk without help. I was on hospital bedrest and on mag (which can cause muscle atrophy, which was why i was having so much trouble) so I was able to use my pump & pole for help. After all, I was only allowed to go a few steps to the restroom and then back to bed. When I went home for a week before delivery, I couldn't walk without dh's help and I wasn't able to walk alone until the 2nd day post partum, and not far at that.

I wish I had thought to ask the same question so I could have been a bit more mobile back then!! The thought never occurred to me!

I didn't have problems to that extreme. Have you discussed it with your Dr to see if they recommend any devices like a walker? If they prescribe it, your insurance will probably pay for it.

It did get to the point where I couldn't do much more than house to car, car to store, store to car, car to house. When that time came, I was limited to stores that had either motorized riding carts or wheelchairs.

I also wanted to add that you should have a handicapped parking permit at this point, especially with the trouble you are having. Ask your Dr to fill out the permit (I printed mine off of the BMV website) and take it to the BMV. Mine validated my permit for 2mos after my due date.

I had that trouble for a while (I think it began around 28ish weeks) and I was on strict bedrest so I was only able to go to the bathroom and Dr appts. I found that when I stood up I would have to stand there for a min or 2 before I could even move my legs but once I got going things would loosen up. My right leg was the worst and I used to drag that along. When I went for my appts DH would help me out to the car and when we got to the hospital he would drop me off at the door and they would give me a wheel chair, he would wheel me up to L&D which is where my doctor met me for appts the last couple months. I think it would totally be reasonable for you to get a cane or a walker or something.

i have a lot of problems walking now and have been for a while. my pelvis also pops so this makes it extremely hard to walk at all unless it pops before i get up to walk. this is what i have found to help out when ever i get up from where ever i am. when i go to stand i try to rock my pelvis first if it moves with no pain then i can walk with little problems.

when i get up from out of bed it takes me longer! i literally have to lay as flat as i can on my back and lay with my legs spread eagle. this straightens out my pelvis and pops it so that i can move without the pain. then i can get up and move.

for you maybe yours does the same as mine without the pop. try to lay flat if you can and stay there for about 3 minutes and relax your muscles as best you can. then try to lift your lower half with your legs if you can lift yourself and there is no pain and no numbness then you shouldn't have any problems getting up. i do this every morning and everytime i get out of bed.

not everything works for every one so i would ask your dr or OB for any excercises that might help too.

    i hope this helps!
    lots of love!

i also forgot epsom salts are good for soaking sore muscles in, but you should ask your dr or ob first. this stuff helps with everything that gets sore. this is my favorite bath tub soaker because i get in hurting and come out feeling relaxed!!
    lots of love!
