I know there was a thread on this a while back, but I have to say from the beginning this pregnancy was different.

I remember I had to eat constantly, or I'd get severe morning sickness. Eating was all I got done during the day! LOL!

I remember telling my OB on my first appointment that I thought it could be twins. He did an u/s....we immediately saw TWO sacs with TWO babies.

Did you have a feeling you were having twins?

I had a good idea it may have been twins...like you i ate all the time for first few weeks was constantly sick and tired lol
there are 8 living sets of fraternal twins in my family so that gave me a clue and i was measuring 14 weeks at 10 weeks so i had a scan at 10 weeks and whoo hoo 2 sacs 2 babies lol
this pregnancy is defenatly different to my singleton pregnancies

Nope, nothing was different about this pregnancy at all. I (I know I'm very lucky) had no morning sickness or anything with either of my pregnancies.

I did do infertility treatments, so I knew there was a higher chance of me having twins. But I thought from the beginning that it was twins. :pardon: I actually thought I'd have twins since I was 17! When I did find out I was pregnant, before my u/s I kept calling the baby the "babies" because I just had a feeling about it. As far as m/s, size, etc. I have nothing to compare it to.

I had a dream a couple weeks before my ultrasound. I dreamed that at my ultrasound, the dr showed me baby A and baby B. I never, ever thought it would be true. I had mentioned it to the dr and the nurse before my ultrasound and they just laughed. But other then my dream, nothing felt different from my first pregnancy to this one. I was nauseous once with DS and haven't been nauseous or had morning sickness at all with this pregnancy.

I was outgrowing clothes before I was even 10 weeks so it was jokingly said. And sure enough!!
My dad said he also had a feeling!

Not really early on, but around 11 weeks or so, I did have a feeling that there was something different! We didn't know for sure until 21 weeks! I also had a very strong feeling about all of my pregnancies as far as gender, and with the twins I kept going back and forth between boy and girl!

My daughter (who was two at the time) told us around 8 weeks that there were two babies in my tummy. We laughed and told her "no, just one". We had to eat our words three weeks later when we had our ultrasound. She knew all along. She loves that story and I have it in her (and the boys') baby book.

Twins run in my family and we always joked that we would have twins. For my first 3 appointments, I kept asking the midwives I was seeing if it was twins and if they could try to listen for two heartbeats. I heard "No, honey. You're too small for twins". I was measuring right on track for a singleton. They convinced me it was only one. At my 19 week u/s they were just as surprised as we were to see two heads. (I didn't keep them as my docs after that). I was having dreams about a baby boy. That scared me when they told me one of the babies had IUGR and might not make it. Luckily my dream was wrong and I got two healthy boys!

I just had a feeling. As soon as I knew I was pregnant, I knew it was twins. The OB confirmed this at our early U/S at 8-9 weeks. Then, I knew they were ID boys. Confirmed again at 21 weeks! :)

Well we put 3 embryos back during IVF so I knew there was a chance and I was really hoping it was twins. I felt a lot different with this pregnancy right away. I had nausea about 9-10 days after retrieval (ovulation) which seemed way too early. With my last pregnancy I didn't have any nausea until 6 weeks and it was only 1. I was also very exhausted - moreso than the last time. I just had a feeling with all the increased symptoms at an earlier stage that there was more than 1 in there. I was ecstatic to see 2 beautiful beating hearts in 2 sacs at our 6 week ultrasound. :)

I used to say all the time as a kid that I wanted twins when I grew up. Don't know why I said that, there were no twins in the family or anything. When I was pregnant the first time, I never thought twins. An early ultrasound (due to bleeding) indicated just one baby. Two days later I had a miscarriage. Then, when we got pregnant the second time, I just felt different emotionally. I remember saying to my DH "What if it's twins?" and he laughed and said "There's just one". Well, when they saw me for my first OB appointment I was measuring big and they told me I had my date of conception wrong. Well, I KNEW when we conceived- so I told her I was 100% sure of the date (due to medical issues, it was the first month we could even try). So, they did an ultrasound and there they both were! When I called my mom to tell her- her first words were "You always said you were going to have twins one day!". :D

When I went for my first u/s at 8.5 weeks, I was positive it would show I was a month further along than I'd first calculated; I was so big and felt so tired. I also gained a lot of weight right at the start - my primary care doctor commented on this but she never suggested the possibility of twins. I said in an earlier post that I'd had a astrology reading done at 19 which predicted twins in my future if I married a Gemini ... but still twins didn't cross my mind, even though I'd carried that prediction with me all these years, lol. Twins simply happened to *other people*. Now I'm lucky enough to be one of them!

I did have a feeling. I wasn't gaining a lot of weight at first, which I did with my son, but my stomach was huge. At 7 weeks I bought a pair of jeans and by 8 weeks, they didn't fit! I knew you showed earlier with your second, but that was ridiculous! My husband and I started joking about it being twins and I even prepared a list of "twin" questions that I wanted to remember to ask if they did say it was twins at the first u/s at 10 weeks. It is a good thing I did because even with the feeling that it was twins, I was still completely shocked when the u/s tech said "Do you know you are having twins?"

I LOVE reading these stories!!! So fun!

I always wanted twins as well. My mother thought I was nuts, lol! I don't have ANY twins in my family at all, we're the first. I feel so blessed!

I was SOOO sick and SOOOO tired during my first trimester I knew something was up. I knew all pregnancies were different and I thought maybe I was just comparing to my pregnancy with my son a little too much. I was also in maternity clothes the same week I found out that I was pregnant, but I had lost 5 pounds from how sick I had been.

My DH actually was the one who had "the feeling." I thought it was possible but just thought it was all in my head! :)

This is so interesting to me. I should preface my post by saying I may not actually belong here, but have been lurking here for weeks and it seems like a safe enough place to post even if you're just questioning whether or not you're having twins. I've been to a few other twin sites and seen how the ladies just tear people apart for asking questions. You ladies here are all so nice! :icon_biggrin:

Anyway, this interests me because right now I'm really suspicious that I may be carrying twins. What pregnant woman isn't? Twins do run in my family, both my maternal GM and GF were fraternal twins and we've got a few other sets here and there. I also read that the incidence of identical twinning increases in women who were BFing when they became pregnant, which I was. I've been seeing twins everywhere for the past month, I mean everywhere. Even had a twin egg yolk one morning!

The real reason, though, is that I'm 10 weeks and finding the baby's heartbeat about 2 1/2 inches below my bellybutton. My uterus has been out of my pelvis for almost a week now. I know my dates are accurate because I had an US at 9 weeks even and it measured 8w5d. And I thought, well, that's it. One baby, end of story. But it's an awful, ancient machine and she struggled to get even one picture. When I look at the pic, I keep seeing this "bubble" around the baby, inside the gestational sac. It looks similar to pics I've seen of identical twins. Except of course, I can only see one! Then I keep reading about women who had twins missed once or even twice. I have no MS but never have with my previous pregnancies. I am experiencing things I never have before though, like dizziness and shortness of breath and the most extreme hunger ever. I've also gained a lot of weight already which is unusual for me this early.

Well, I'm so sorry for rambling on this way and hijacking your thread, but everyone IRL thinks I'm crazy for thinking there's still a chance there's two. It just feels nice to be able to put it out there. Maybe now I can stop obsessing over it! Hope everyone has healthy and happy pregnancies and *maybe* I'll be joining you?

I had no idea. I did feel further along but every pregnancy is different so I didn't think anything of it.

This was my first pregnancy, so I had no idea what I was in for. My Dr told me I was having twins right around 6 weeks, so we found out really early. Everyone else had a feeling I was having twins, but I told them there was no way! Well, I was wrong and now I couldn't imagine just having 1!!

I told DH just days before my first ultrasound that it must be twins because I was eating so much & I was so tired. I was still surprised when the tech said it was twins. We have no twins in the family........until now!!

yes, for whatever reason we felt we may be prenant w/ twins, even my MIL had an inkling.
We found out at 5 weeks and were thrilled! Fast forward 4 years and still stare at them. . . just marveling:D
