I was wondering this myself........how long do parents of twins usually wait? I have heard that if you have twins you are CRAZY to have any more!! It would be my luck that I have trips!!

I started trying when the twins were about 10 months old. I found out I was pregnant when they were about 15 months old and had Liam 3 weeks before they turned 2.

We're done. It won't be happening here. I had a hysterectomy when the twins were 4 months old.

We never had the luck to "fall" pregant, as you put it. What a great expression. We went through IVF to have the twins, so I'm not really thinking that we are going to suddenly get pregnant on our own. But we are probably done anyway. We have one of each, and having to pay out of pocket for IVF is just SO expensive. So for us, unless there was a happy accident, I don't think we will be having anymore.

sometimes kind of sad about it though. don't really want more, but a little boy would be wonderful too. oh well. Good luck if you are trying

My babies are IVF miracles so unless by some miracle we find another $15,000 this is it for us! I am thrilled to have my babies! Anymore would just be extra icing on an already decadent cake!

We too did IVF and if we "fell pregnant" i would be shocked beyond belief... ;) That child would have to be president or something. ;) It took 4 years and about 15K to get our twins. We are done anyway because with my step-darlings this makes 4 kids total. ;)

I wouldn't mind being pregnant again with twins, but not until these two are atleast 2 - oh wow, thats almost a year from now - where does the time go :D

Not making a decision until the boys are at least 2 years old. We may or may not begin negotiations at that time!

I had a difficult pregnancy towards the end & TERRIBLE birth..and these past two months have been a total blurr!!

Dh would most probably love to have more kids..but I can't even wrap my mind around it...
I'm just scared of any 'accidents' happening..yes it's birth control all the way except once or twice (I guess that's freaking me out)

I found out 2 weeks after my twins turned 2 that I was pregnant again. It is a planned pregnancy and we wanted to wait until they were 2. We started trying 2 months before (just for the fun of it) and it happened the second month.

Denise, does that mean you're actually doing the deed? OMG! We had our babies at the same time, and I can barely find time to shower, eat, go to the bathroom, and just forget about sleep -- much less be intimate with DH. Egad....

(Oh, and we're absolutely done with kids!)

Not pregnant now and probably will never be again, although I'm a little conflicted about that. I had an IUD put in place when the boys were about 2 months old so we wouldn't have to worry. I suspect that DH is perfectly happy with our family as is, but I have this nagging thought that it might be nice to have three kids relatively close in age. My older son Corbin (DH is his step-father) will be 13 in October and highschool and college are not so many years off... I also can't help but think it would be nice to have one more shot at a daughter. DH and I had talked about three kids as a the max before we knew we were having twin boys, thinking the odds of having at least one of each sex was pretty good that way. (DH wanted daughters when we found out it was twins.) The more practical side of me says three boys, even with the huge age gap, is plenty and it would be better to spoil the ones we have than to spread ourselves too thin. I think if we did decide a fourth child made any kind of sense for our family, we wouldn't start trying until the twins were at least 2 years old. I really want to enjoy their babyhood without any other distractions. I wouldn't want to wait much longer than when they hit 2 to 2.5 because I'd like Corbin to get some time to spend with his sibling before going off to college.

Anyhoo... To the OP - if the thought of a pregnancy too soon scares you, would you consider an IUD? The Mirena one I have is good for up to 5 years and it's significantly reduced my menstrual flow. I love it. :icon_biggrin:

Fall pregnant. I have not heard that term before. I did a couple of times fall when I was pregnant.

I conceived Wesley four months after Carl was born. But my situation is totally different.

Are there any side effects to the IUD? I tried birth control pills for about 2 months and my hormones became unbearable. We tried for about 3 years and it took 2 IVFs to conceive the twins. We don't think we want anymore, but don't want to go to extreme measures yet. We have been taking other precautions, but the other night DH kind of messed up. I immediately freaked out because we can't afford another one right now. I really don't think that I will be able to get pregnant, but I feel like I need to do something just in case. Of course I am not willing to deal with the way birth control makes me feel.

We got pg right away with our first child. Our second two took longer because I had been extended breastfeeding and my luteal phases just weren't long enough to support a pregnancy. Since I'm currently nursing two, I'm figuring I wouldn't turn up pregnant for at least another year and a half. (But you can BET I'm not relying on it as birth control!!!!!).

Logically speaking, I would love to have as many children as I can. Logistically speaking, I'm not sure how many more I could handle. As I'm still not getting a ton of sleep, I have a pretty short fuse and feel really sorry for my oldest.

I havent' experienced any with the Mirena, my periods are almost non existant.... I am happy with my choice. Go to thier website and talk to your gyn about whether it is a good option for you.

I second that. Mirena does contain low dose hormone though. There's a copper IUD available that is completely hormone free. Definitely talk to your OB about it. Neither DH and I were ready to be snipped, but we wanted something we really didn't need to think about it. So far, it's been great. :)

After my 3rd son was born, there was one "episode" that could have led to pregnancy -- when he was 7 weeks old. I have identical twins as a result of it. :)
