Did you "drop" early...

Up until about Friday, for the past month or two I have had really bad indigestion and would get short of breath VERY easy. All of the sudden those symptoms seem to be gone. I don't feel like I have "dropped" but the other day a lady asked me when I was due and when I said July, explained twins, etc. She said, "oh, because you look like you are ready and you are carrying low."
I was wondering if anyone else "dropped" this early in their twin pregnancy or if the relief is due to something else. I am curious to see the babies on Thursday because at our last U/S baby B was transverse and I am wondering if she moved back down and that is why everything changed.

I experienced this same "dropping" sensation last week. I am also 24 weeks and 4 days along, carrying twin girls. Baby B was transverse across the upper half of my uterus for the first half of my pregnancy, and I too feel like she recently turned. I don't know if "dropping" is really the correct term for what I'm experiencing, but I'm grateful for it whatever it is. I had debilitating middle back pain throughout the first half of my pregnancy and was beginning to have breathing problems as well, but I have felt much better since whatever happened happened. I see my OB and have an u/s tomorrow morning. I will let you know what the OB says about the "dropping" theory.

I don't think it's necessarily "dropping" as much as the babies repositioning from time to time. I had the same issues for a while and then they seemed to go away (or at least lessen) somewhat. Hate to tell you, but at 29+ wks, my lack of breath and heartburn are back and worse than ever. :( Hopefully you won't experience this, but that's been the case for me. And I think the carrying low is just gravity. I was carrying them really high for the first 2 trimesters, but alas, no longer. I'll be needing a wheelbarrow soon.

Oh, too funny that we are exactly the same weeks/days along and experienced the same thing! I am going to guess both our Baby B's decided to join their sister again side by side. Let me know what you find out tomorrow and I will let you know if that is what I find out Thursday. Wouldn't it be funny if our twins were born the same day!

Thanks everyone for your input and even for your forewarning.......newpairofschus <_< LOL

I saw my OB this morning and told her about the "dropping" sensation. She said that, as I suspected, "dropping" is a technical term that refers to the time when the babies drop into the pelvis in preparation for delivery. What I experienced was just baby weight, i.e., the weight of the babies has pulled my abdomen out front and away from my ribs, lungs, etc. She said it's normal to experience this about this time and that I should enjoy the relief while it lasts.

Also as I suspected, Baby B has turned from transverse and is now in a "frank breech" position, which means she's sorta doubled over like a taco with her feet almost touching her head. Both babies looked awesome on the u/s, weighing in at 1 lb 11 oz each and measuring 24 weeks and 6 days. Their heartrates were 157 and 154. So the "dropping" sensation does not appear to be associated with any problems at all.

Good luck at your appointment tomorrow.

I thought I had "dropped" around 33 weeks, but it was just baby B flipping head down. Towards the end of my pregnancy, I could really tell that my belly was low, because it hung BELOW my underwear line!!! I was induced at 38 wks 1 day. They almost let me go longer, but they saw how miserable I was, and the babies were big and healthy. Delivered two girls, 6.6 oz and 6.11 oz. But I agree with the previous posts....if you're still pretty early, it's probably just repositioning babies.

Yep, that's the explanation I got as well! Both babies have decided to turn transverse so baby A gave Baby B a little more room to move down as well! Glad everything went well at the appt. and your babies are good size! For me Baby A was 1lb 7oz, heart rate 150 & Baby B was 1lb 10oz, heart rate 160. It was so fun watching them again!
    Take care!
