Basically the title says it all.
As of now i have about an inch, maybe between my stomach, and my steering wheel. I am wondering if i am going to have to give up driving soon?
Did this happen to anyone else?

I had to stop driving because I was put on bedrest, but I would say once your stomach is up against the steering wheel you should probably stop. Definitely talk to your Dr about it!

I had to stop driving early on based on the fact i was put on bedrest however if you cant fit comfy idont drive its not worth risking you or the baby if you need to go somewhere maybe you can ask someone to take you thats what i had to do

No. I drove myself to my last Dr appt and they wheeled me into the hospital from that appt.

I never did, but I'm tall and sit far back from the steering wheel to start with. I drove until the end.

I had to stop driving around 34 weeks because I couldn't fit behind the steering wheel. I actually loaned out my car to my MIL for a while since hers was being fixed and she would pick me up for my weekly appt.

I would have, but I got put on modified bedrest before that had a chance to happen. I was driving to work up until 29 weeks, though, and was having increasing trouble getting in & out of the car. I'm short and my belly was pretty close to the steering wheel.

My OB made a comment at my last appointment that since I'm already measuring 39 weeks, I probably won't be able to drive much longer. I have two other kids with a ton of activities so unless I go on bedrest, I'm going to need to find a way to keep driving.

Around 32 weeks, I was no longer comfortable driving my Blazer because I felt I was too close to the steering wheel, so I started driving DH's Avalanche because that had more room.

I did have to stop, but I drive a VW beetle, a classic one, and the steering wheel doesn't adjust. On most cars you can tip it further up, mine couldn't and if I move the seat back further I wouldn't have been able to reach the pedels, especially the clutch which on my car has to go allllll the way to the floor.

I drove myself to my last appt on the 36th week to the day! They took me to labor and delivery from there ( a bit unexpected). I am 5' 4'' and also put the steering wheel up.....

my DH made me quit driving at about 23 weeks when i got dizzy and almost hit an SUV. Now i cant even fit in a booth at a restaurant, much less behind a steering wheel.

I was put on bedrest but I am sure my belly was too big as I am short and have to have my seat fairly close anyway. When I had a docs appointment we would go out to lunch after (this was my only time out) and we couldn't sit at a booth because I couldn't fit.

I stopped ddriving around my 30th week. I have a mini van and I could not put the seat close enough to reach the pedals without my belly getting squished.

I had a Nissan Altima and by 30 weeks I had to stop driving because I couldn't turn without hitting my belly. I'd definately talk to your doctor about it. :good:

I am 5'3 and I drove myself at 38 weeks to my scheduled c-section. I was apparently even having contractions that I wasn't feeling! I could fit the thickness of my hand between the steering wheel & my tummy. If you are uncomfortable, by all means, stop driving!

I had to quit, but I don't remember exactly when. 32 weeks maybe? I'm 5'1 and I couldn't keep enough distance between me and the wheel and still reach the pedals <_< . If you only have about an inch between you and the wheel, I'd say it's a dangerous proposition to drive.

We just bought a new van in Feb and had extension pedals put on because I'm short and there is no way I'd be able to drive the whole time since I already have to sit with my seat scooted all the way up. With my singleton pregnancies I've been close to not being able to fit so I knew with twins there'd be no way. It only cost about $150 to have the extension pedals added.

I delivered at 34w0d and drove myself to the Dr that day. I'm short, at 5'4", and still had 4"+ before hitting the wheel. Your belly should be aways away from the wheel, so you might have to stop driving!

I didn't get a chance to stop driving since my boys were born super early at 26 weeks. But at 26 weeks I already had a 30 lb belly. So had I not had them so early, I really don't think I would have been driving much longer.

Maybe I'll just have to buy myself some good platform shoes and move my seat back!!

Seriously i think i will play around with moving the seat back, wheel up to see if i can get more distance.

I drove until I was just about 39 weeks. I am the sole driver in my home so their was no choice what i did was adjusted the steering wheel which is easy on any vehicle to raise and push the seat back. My seatbelt, I positioned underneath so it would not hurt my belly.

I stopped at about 32 weeks. It got to the point my seat was back so far my arms were fully extended and my feet barely could reach the pedals while the steering wheel still managed to be within 2" of my belly.

I feel much better not driving anymore, but hate having to rely on other people for rides.

I drove the whole time but I am 5'6", So I had no problem fitting behind the wheel. I dont think my belly was that huge when I think back. No-one could tell I was having twins just looking at me.

I had to drive dh's car without the clutch, use a seat belt extension and tilt the steering wheel...I realy dont know how much longer I could have kept that up. For my C/S we have to drive out of town so my mom and I just got cozy in the backseat while hubby drove!

I had to stop driving when I was about 26 weeks or so. I am only 5'1 so that doesn't help. I didn't drive really till my 6 week postpartum appointment so it felt like FOREVER since I'd driven!

I stopped around 31 or so weeks when I could no longer get close enough to put the clutch all the way to the floor!

My doctor stopped measuring when I was measuring 45 weeks and that was teh start of my 3rd trimester!
I drove until the end (37 weeks) although I didnt drive much as I was hugely uncomfortable and didnt have a desire to waddle around many places :)

I'm 32 weeks tomorrow. I don't think that I can drive or do much else much longer.... I think that bedrest will be coming. It's really hard to drive now and it's putting alot of pressure on my tailbone no matter what I do with the seat, steering wheel, or adj pedals. I have to drive about an hour tomorrow to pick up my SIL from the airport. It might be rude ('cuz she's coming from GA to MI) but I may ask her to drive us back home!!!

I went to WalMart today to get things for Easter Baskets.... 7 kids & all different ages to give to them at my baby shower on Sat. Well, that took forever & then a flipping 1/2 hour in line... needless to say.. I couldn't stand or anything anymore. When I got to the car - I sat there with the seat reclined back for about 20 mins just to get some relief before driving home.
