Did one change their nap habits before the other?

Generally speaking, both mine wake up around 6ish, down for 1st nap 9ish, 2nd nap at 3, then bedtime is 8Pm. Lately though, Gabriel has been fighting his 2nd nap. He just stands in his crib and wails. Nathan goes down with no problems. I have been going ahead and getting Gabe up after about 30 mins because he sounds so upset. Then he is usally fine and cheerful until bedtime.

Gabe also sleeps much longer during the AM nap. Sometimes 3 hours where Nate will only sleep 2max.

So really, I was just wondering if your kiddos switched nap habits at different times. It's really nice having them go down at the same time every day but I don't want to force a nap that isn't going to happen. Could it be a phase? Gabe just really doesn't seem like he needs the extra nap (mommy sure does!).

If they do nap at different times...how does that work?
    Thanks!

Sofia was ready to go to 1 before Ryan. I would put her down for her afternoon nap and she would just chat. So I switched them both to 1 nap a day.

[SIZE=14pt]Ryan was definitely ready to drop the first nap before Colin. I nap them in separate rooms since one has always woken up before the other. When Ryan wasn't tired for the am nap, he would just be content in his crib for about 1/2 an hour and then he would start to let me know he was getting bored. But Colin was asleep in our room (in a pac and play). So this became one on one time for Ryan and I. After about a week of Ryan not sleeping in the morning, I started to push the morning nap later and later.
It took a little bit of time for Colin to adjust, but he did fine. Now they both nap from 12-3 (and Ryan is still the first one up!)

It sounds like since Gabe has such a long am nap, he is all set for the rest of the day!?

  4. One of my girls, Alvionna, does not nap. Her sister, Caprionna must have a nap but it is usually very short. Both Boys Reggie and Rico take two naps. Reggie is ready to only take one and somethimes he only takes one.

Kayla was definitely ready for 1 nap before Kyle was. The good thing for me was she loved to still be in her crib so I put them both in and waited to hear Kyle before I got them out. Her chatter never woke Kyle and she never got sad so I just continued that until they were both ready for one nap. If she wasn't content in there I just wouldn't have put her down at all, just Kyle. Kyle definitely still needed the two naps for a couple months longer than she did and I didn't feel it was right to transition both just because one was ready.

Arwen has been taking only one nap since about 11 1/2 months. Lorien CAN NOT make it without a second nap.

Right at the age yours are now is when I had the same issue, and I just decided to switch them both to one, and it was the right thing to do. The first 1-2 weeks of transition may have you second guessing your idea to go to 1, but if you tough that out, it all gets easier. :)

We wake at 7 and go to bed at 8, with a nap around 12:30ish or 1. It has been that way since 13 months. OH, and I would take them out and about around the usual nap time to keep them happy for a while.

Both of the boys are just now starting to transition, so I'm trying to figure it all out like you. Spencer is more starting to stretch his morning nap longer and longer wihle Carter would rather drop the morning nap and take a longer afternoon nap. Right now I am just trying to push Spencer to stay awake longer and longer in the mornings so as to keep them on the same schedule as much as possible. Some days they will still take two naps though, and I cherish those days. My real dillema is that suddenly Carter is waking up way too early, he is making me crazy with this and I think it could be because he is getting too much sleep in the afternoons, but I don't know.

At that age, Ella went through about a week's period when she was refusing one or the other. Jack would somehow sleep through her antics though. They are back to two naps still and I love it! Not looking forward to the transition!
