A relative asked me yesterday if I would like her to come over today and sit with the twins so I could take a shower or do some errands... I have gotten so used to not having time to take a shower that I usually only do one every other day, and on the others I "touch up", makeup, a quick straighten of the hair, etc. BUT TO ADMIT TO SOMEONE OUT LOUD that I don't regularly shower every day!!!!! I told her she was more than welcome to visit, but I already had a shower today so I was good for tomorrow. Really? Did I really just say that to her? A little embarrassing... definitely a little embarrassing....

 Laughing with you, not at you... I only got a daily shower at that age by bringing them in with me.

You get to shower every other day??? Good for you! ;) I also have to bring my boys into the bathroom. Soon they'll be in the shower too, I'm sure!

Okay, so I can totally relate! Dh asks me nightly if I want to take a shower and I usually tell him no. I think he's trying to imply something!!

You just have to reframe this. You're not some weird person who doesn't shower daily--you're an ecologically responsible person who does her part to conserve water! ;)

I've been there too. When the boys were 3 mos. and younger I can remember feeling like it was a red-letter day if I brushed my teeth AND took a shower in the same day. :pardon:

    I like Ruby's interpretation.

laughing WITH you as well....and love the 'ecologically responsible' approach!

I knew it was bad when I would wake up, do morning routine, and LEAVE THE HOUSE wearing the same yoga pants and t shirt taht i had SLEPT in, figuring that if it hadn't been refluxed on I was good to go......

and - i keep makeup in the car, since i can usually at LEAST put on some concealer to cover the black under my eyes and brush on some cheek color!

Funny, i'm living w/my sister and her family and my 19 year old niece takes at LEAST an hour (or more) each day to get ready to go out...I'msure that sometimes she looks at me as in "oh, man, is that REALLY my aunt?!!" but - hey, i don't think is pend an hour a WEEK getting ready!

DH (SAHD) once admitted to me that he hadn't showered in three days. I didn't know what was more disturbing....that he didn't get a shower for three days, or that we weren't ever physically close enough to each other for me to notice that he didn't shower for three days!!!

Laughing with you too! I'll admit that on days I don't get a shower, I improvise and do a quick clean up with baby wipes. Ok, did I just admit to that?...now THAT is embarrassing!

Even before having twins I didn't always shower everyday. I work in a mild, dry climate so only really sweat during the months of March, April and May--during which I often take TWO showers a day, so the rest of the time I save up my water alotment to use it then. Of course, if I do something to get dirty, then I take a shower--but if I don't NEED it, why waste the resources???

Once the girls got the to point where they were fully mobile--no more pack-n-play I had to start showering with them if I was home alone.

Heres my trick to getting a shower every day...I only wash my hair like every 3rd or 4th day!!! Saves me a TTTTOOONNNN of time. I throw a shower cap on and get in. When I do finally wash my hair, my husband notices...cracks me up!!!

But, i'll admit it was a struggle to get to this point. It took me until the girls were around 15 months old to figure this one out!!

I shower or take a bath everyday. Sometimes it's after the kids go to bed, but still, I need that shower. I usually wash my hair every other day. I wear alot of hats! I rarely put on makeup (except lipstick).

Yesterday, the girls watched me take a shower. They were curious, I was desperate for a shower and turns out it actually helped them...... they got to see mommy wash her hair. Sometimes they freak in the bath about the water pouring on their heads. Bath time was calmer last night.
