Did I lose my mucous plug?

The past few days, I've had a lot of discharge that is clear and jelly-looking. Last night, I had a LOT and then when I looked in the toilet, I saw what looked like a glob of it in the water.

With my first I didn't notice any plug loss. I had bloody show the day I went into labor - that was it.

SOOO, here is my concern. Did I lose my plug? It didn't show any blood - which I thought was typical with a plug...

Second, if I did lose my plug, does that mean I am that much closer to giving birth? I am 32w today and want to hold on to these babies as long as possible! I was thinking that maybe this just meant I am starting to dilate. A month ago I was high and tight and baby A wasn't even presenting.... but again, that was a month (3 weeks maybe).

I feel like such an idiot. I am just looking for BTDT account of plug loss and how long before you went into labor if you did at all :)

Many moons ago when I had my DD I remember losing my plug a couple of weeks before starting labor. It was jelly-like and a good amount. It was not "bloody" but did look like it had "veins" in it. (wasn't completely clear but mostly)

Bluntly, it looked like a big glob of snot in my undies.

This could mean that you have started to dilate...I would call the Dr. just to make sure.
When I was in the hospital (bed rest from week 22 - week 28 when I delivered) I asked about loosing my mucus plug and the Dr. told me that you don't just have one mucus plug your entire pregnancy. He said that it replenishes it's self, hence the "extra discharge" during pregnancy.
    Hope this helps!
    Good luck!

I'm not going to worry about calling the doctor. I haven't had any other signs of labor - I am just curious. I have an appt. on Monday with her anyway :)

    Thanks for the feedback ladies!

With DS, I lost my plug at 33 weeks. It was just a huge blob of snot, no blood at all. I had an appt. that day already scheduled so my doc checked me. No change in my cervix. I didn't deliver my DS until 35w5d. The mucous plug can regenerate itself. Losing it doesn't mean labor is imminent.

Let us know what your doc says!
