did anyone just know before they were told?

so i was just curious how many of you ladies knew before the doctors told you that you were having multiples? and if you had a hunch what the sexes of the babies would be prior to finding out - and if so around what week did you realize what you were having?

for me around the 5th or 6th week i just keep seeing these programs on television about multiple pregnancies and i just made a joke to myself that i bet i was going to have twins. and eventually as time went on i began to scheme up ways to get an ultrasound early on to see if i would hear more than one heartbeat. fortunately for me i don't track my menstal cycle and they had to perform an u/s to determine age and wouldn't you know, i was right...two babies, two heartbeats. infact the first thing i said when the tech said "you've got two" was "i knew it!", which is odd because we have no history of multiples in our families and i wasn't on fertility treatments. nope, just completely random. i never actually verbalized my hunch about the twins but i did try to prep my husband before hand by asking him what he would do if we had more than one baby. it never dawned on him that there was even a chance we could have twins. infact when he found out he went completely silent for about 30 minutes....total shock.

now i'm wondering about the sexes and if i'll be right about that too. it's weird though because i don't have a particular draw to any one sex. i keep referring to them as girls but put more emphasis on finding boys names. when i picture them i see girls and so does my husband but again, both of us keep going back to fighting over the right boys names.

so what have been everyone else's experience when it comes to this?

Even though we did IVF I was shocked we were having twins. I always thought we were having two boys, and my husband thought boy/girl. He was right!!

We knew at 6W (US) that it was twins, and I always knew somehow they were B/G, also that A was the boy, B was the girl. Don't know how, just a strong gut feeling.
We decided on 2 boy and 1 girl name, hoping they weren't G/G because we couldn't find 2 grl names we agreed on! We just decided to stop looking for names until we knew who they were for.
    Have fun!

I knew that we were pregnant before I took the test. I knew we were having twins before the Dr told us. I knew that we were having boys because I never looked at girl clothing nor did we have boy names picked out.

    Funny the female intuition!

Similar story here. IVF, still shocked and I would have bet I was having TWO GIRLS!

With all three of my pregnancies I knew I was pregnant within a day of the IUI or the IVF transfer. This time was our first IVF and I really thought it was twins because I felt the implantation cramping two separate times a few hours apart. I tested positve w/in four days and my HGC numbers were sky high. At my first u/s a few days later, they only saw one sac and I told the RE that I had been sure it was two. For the next week I kept thinking that I was surprised it was only one and then at my second ultrasound a week later we had two heartbeats. I was shocked since we had been told it was one, but deep down I think I knew it was coming.

I knew from the begininng that these were boys. I never had a good sense with my girls, but this time I was postive. Besided the fact that the pregnancy was very very different, I just knew it.

I knew when I was pregnant from the day I conceived. They now measure back to that exact day. I did not feel it was twins. Everytime I've been pregnant I always thought "wouldn't it be cool to have twins". So I just brushed it off as that and never really thought about it again. Although I wasn't really surprised when the tech told me and my husband didn't seem to be either so maybe we really did know. My husband however did mentioned it at 7 weeks. I was saying how fat I was getting and he's like maybe there is two in there. It was hard to hide that I wasn't getting a baby bump even then. With my son and this one I just knew it was boys. I found out with my son at 17 weeks and this time at 15. I really wanted a girl and was upset because I just knew these were boys. But since I found out they were boys I've started referring to them as she's and visualizing pink. Weird huh?

We did infertility treatments too, altho not ivf, and my dh said he knew it was twins when we did the insemination and had 2 good follies with possibly a third. He just knew it would be twins. I was shocked as hell at the first ultrasound, while he was a smug little booger! ;)

I had a gut feeling it was b/g but wasn't sure if it was an actual feeling or just what I wanted, since we have one of each already! I was thrilled to be right! :D

    I have completly opposite feeling.
we did the IVf I push my RE to transfer 3 embies and she was concern of getting triplet but I said I woudl be lucky to even get twins.
on my first u/s they were looking for more then one embies and it was only one so I just think one more time that I knew it woudl be only one even if we transfer 3
but I always wanted to have twins ( b/g one) but you know dream and reality is different. When my RE found the second one I was VERY HAPPY. but again it wasn't for sure. At 7 w they told for sure it's twins. now I still doesn't know the sexes but I wanted b/g but because I always get something what I didn't ready I have no idea what I will get. I hope I will find out in a week.

I was sure we'd have 2 boys and we did. (after I found out it was twins, that is)

We didn't find out it was twins until 21 weeks, but right around 14 weeks or so, I did start questioning. As far as gender, I kept wavering, boy, girl, no boy, no girl! With my other kids I had a strong feeling either way, and was right, so it's kind of funny that I couldn't get a good 'feeling' on what we were having!

When I first found out I was pregnant my husband always felt my stomach and called them babies. We had two names picked out and everything. I first tried to find a heartbeat with a fetal doppler in the Emergency Room (with my husband, we are both nurses). We couldn't find a single heartbeat, but I came out of the room telling our coworkers I heard two. I was only kidding at the time. My husband wanted the ultrasound tech to do an ultrasound on me but for some reason I didn't want her to. I found out a month later we were having twins. I always had that GUT feeling there were two. When I found out I cried for two days. I googled mono/di twins and HATED what I found online. I didn't want to have twins. Now I would never want just one!! I love my twins! I can't imagine one without the other! I wouldn't have it any other way!

Well, i didn't know, but my DH did. About the twin part at least. He kept telling everyone " she's pregnant with twins " and i kept telling him to stop saying that. lol But, he thought they were going to be girls.

It wasn't until 15 weeks when i went in for an u/s that the u/s tech said " and baby A..." and i was like " what do you mean baby A????? ". He said " there are two in there ", and i said " Shut up. That is so not funny for you to lie to me like that ". He finally turned the screen to show me, and i still couldnt believe it. Thats also when i found out they were mono/di and both boys. i was in shock for like a week after. i don't have any in my family, but DH does in his, and there was no IVF or assistance to get them. Thats why i was so surprised.

I TOTALLY "just knew" we were having twins. I told everyone that I felt that way and no one believed me- 12 weeks ultrasound confirmed it! I also thought it was a boy and girl- right again! Maybe it was just mother's intuition!

I didn't know it was twins until the ultrasound but like you, I had been watching a lot of tv with shows about twins right before we found out and I was thinking to myself how crazy it would be if we had twins. And the night I found out I was pregnant I knew it was a girl then when we found out it was twins I knew it was two girls and last week they confirmed two girls! good luck

I think I must have known because shortly after we found out we were pg, I told DH I was afraid we'd have twins. I had no reason to think I would, I don't have a family history to speak of (DH's mom is a twin but that didn't affect us) and didn't get pg with any sort of fertility treatment, but something just made me feel that I would have twins. I didn't have an early u/s and asked my OB EVERY time we listened to the heartbeat if she was sure there was only one...yep, only one. I wasn't bigger than to be expected for 1 and nothing indicated twins...until nearly 22 wks along and had my first u/s. Surprise! As far as the gender, I thought I was having 1 girl...obviously I was WAY OFF on that one!!

My dad is a frat. Triplet so I knew their was a chance but no one in the family had had any multiples since. My mother kept saying I was going to have twins, she just somehow knew! I was still shocked to find out at 8 wks we were expecting 2 but a bit relieved theirs only 2 not 3. They say they are most likely identical so I dont know how much grandmas genes have to do with it. As far as the sexes I was way wrong I thought for sure they were boys.,nope both girls funny though we had girl names within an hr of talking about it but could never come up with boy names.

dh kept insisting that we were having twins, so when i went for my first appointment with my OB at 7 weeks, i told her "yeah, dh insists we're having twins" and she was all, "you're not having twins. trust me, you dont WANT twins!" then she gave me an U/S to prove to me i'm not having twins and there were my two beans!

twins don't run in my family at all, and this was a spontaneous twin preg.

There is an old wives tale....when one leave the world another comes in...
Well my mother died on the 3rd of Oct and my aunt died on the 5th of October. So when I found out I was prego and I went for my 1st appt with the ob I was telling her about it and saying that I needed for her to prove everyone in the family wrong that I WAS NOT having twins and she couldn't do it...She thought that I had just an enlarged uterus, which I do, and cyst on my ovaries, those are there too so as she was wanding me to look at those, she said, sorry, there's another in here....I figured they were girls, altho a b/g combo would have been great, but everyone in the family is glad that they are girls...I am too!

I didn't know but others did. I was working at a company where 3 or 4 other employees had twins, so the running joke was "it was in the water." My mom thought I was "popping out" a little too fast, so she said I was either having twins or further along...but I knew I couldn't be because of a m/c I'd had before getting pregnant with them. I didn't get to see my doctor until I was 11 weeks along, and she said I was measuring a little big. She sent me to u/s and sure enough, there were two. And then nobody believed me when I told them it was twins...all that time of teasing me, and they were right...they just couldn't believe it until they saw the ultrasound picture. :)

I really didn't know if they were girls or not...but we couldn't pick out boy names so I guess that was my clue.

i knew i was preg and it was diffrent, when i saw the doc i told him i was preg and it wasnt right, lol
he did the test sure enough i was, than he sent me for an ultra sound (had a previous etopic) 1 hr later i was told there are 2 sacs
at about 15weeks i told my husband to go threw our sons cloths and pull out anythign the girls can wear, he laughed and told me shaws dont have girls, over the last 40 years my husbands side of the family has had 3 girls out of 26 being born. i told him they are acting different and im not craving as much. at 19weeks we found out we are having 1 girl the other wouldnt show. at 21 weeks we found out it was 2 girls. lol

I had no inkling I could possibly be having twins.

However, from the moment I found out I was pg with twins, I KNEW it was 2 boys. DH didn't want to find out the babies' sexes, so we didn't, but whenever anyone asked, I replied, "I don't know for sure, but I think it's 2 boys."

    And so it was. :)

When I found out I was pregnant, we told our oldest dd that mommy had a baby in her belly...What do you think the baby will be, a boy or a girl. She proceeded to tell us that there is a boy for her brother to play with and a girl for her to play with. We laughed it off...Out of the mouth of a 4 year old, right?? Well, lo and behold, a week after that, I went for the u/s BY MYSELF, and found out it was twins. SHOCK!! Then at the big ultrasound, when they said 1 of each, we went home and gave my dd a lotto slip to fill out...Unfortunately she is not THAT psychic. LOL

When we found out we were pregnant after our IUI I sort of thought maybe it was twins but didn't really believe myself since on the day of my trigger shot I only had one follicle. The day before our first u/s my husband was joking with me in the car that there were 2 babies and I just brushed it off as him trying to get me worked up. When we had our first u/s I could tell right away from looking at the screen before the tech even said anything. My husband was shocked and so was our RE, she actually went back and pulled my chart to make sure that they had only seen one follicle lol.

Before we found out the genders I really wanted at least one of them to be a girl, but deep down I think I always knew they were both boys.
