    Hi Ladies :p

I am 30 weeks with b/g twins :hug99: ....my husband, though well meaning, has been after me to ask my ob when or if I would have to stop driving.

So when I got in the car this morning to drop the kids off at preschool, I really surveyed the situation. I know I should keep my belly 6 inches away from the airbag and steering wheel. Thankfully I am tall 5ft.9inches........and my arms should provide some longevity in the coming weeks of growth. But it scares me, nonetheless, to think that I will be FURTHER incapacitated in the coming weeks of growth.

THEN....I had my baby shower on Sunday with my girlfriends and 3 of them there have had twins. They all told me how "small" I look for carrying twins and that my belly is going to explode in more growth and I wont be able to wrap my hands around the front of my belly in the coming weeks. (fyi, baby boy weighs 4lbs 4 oz and baby girl weighs 3lbs 13oz as of Monday at my 30 week appt PLUS I have gained 40lbs so far) So for people to be saying "how small" I am and the like, I know I have done a great job getting my babies big early and THEN I hear I probably wont be able to drive soon and that I will be getting scary-big.

From one extreme to the other...too small and then I will be too big. It scares me to think how much bigger my belly is going to get, I feel HUGE!!! :icon_eek:

I'm 5'1". I think I had to give up driving around 7 months. DH just had to take me anywhere I needed to go. It was a drag, but since I didn't have a choice, I just went along for the ride. I didn't really want to go that many places anyway.

I drove myself to the hospital at 38 weeks to have my scheduled c-section! I could fit the palm of my hand between the steering wheel and my tummy! I worked up until the day before. No, it was probably not the safest thing to do, esp since I hit a deer at about 7-8 months pregnant. (airbag did not go off - deer hit my front driver's side panel) Good luck with your decision!

I drove to my 37 week appointment at the hospital and ended up delivering that day as my daughter had stopped moving. I also drove 3 days after I came home to get my staples out. My Doctor was fine with it and I had no issues! I did not take any pain relief drugs after they were born so driving was not as issue. The doctor said if I took the percocet that I could not drive. I opted to skip it.

I drove until I had them at 38 weeks and I was huge but I still fit in the drivers seat. ;)

I am not fitting anymore and I have quite a few weeks left. It's already pressing in and I've been wondering how long I can do this. I really only have to drive myself to my appointments so I'm hoping I can hang on. We'll see!

I'm 33 weeks tomorrow, and I'm definitely cutting back on my driving. Physically I'm OK with it (plenty of room between me and the wheel), but mentally I don't like it anymore - the wheel is smack dab in front of the belly and it scares me. Plus getting in and out of the car is getting to be a big drag! Hubby always drives if we go places together and he drives me to all appts., but I still do some local driving for now ... but trying to do less and less!

the last time I drove was home from my baby shower at 31 or 32 weeks - I drove a stick and could no longer put the clutch to the floor!

I got put on bedrest at 29 weeks, but it was already getting tricky to drive. I drive a stick shift too, and I'm short and have short arms. I could still get in & out of the car (with difficulty), but it was getting hard to put the clutch in.

I'm scared I will have to stop driving and have no way to make it to my doctor's appointments. :(

My new car has an adjustable steering wheel, but I am short and worry that my feet won't reach the pedals if I get a lot bigger!

I drove myself to my 38 week dr. appt., which is when I was scheduled for an induction that eve. I was not restricted and could fit behind the wheel, so I was comfortable driving.

I am 36 weeks and I am still driving. I have plenty of room but I am not enjoying driving. When I have to adjust the seat it is quite difficult, so I only drive if I HAVE to. I have gotten to where I just HATE driving now. Not sure why, but it seems to exhaust me. Kinda dumb I know..but I am capable, just being a big ol' baby about it.
