Diarrhea

Okay, I went to my normal weekly doctor appointment today (I'm 35 weeks 1 day). While sitting in the lobby I had a contraction that lasted about 3-4 minutes. Kinda felt like I had to poop. So then we get back to the room and are waiting to get hooked up for NST and I start having another contraction lasting about the same length and about 45 minutes from the last one in the lobby. Again, it felt like I had to go poop. So I went to the bathroom and had real loose stool-not diarrhea yet. My doctor checked me and I'm still 2cm dilated my cervix is soft but still way back there-same as last week. She said my body is releasing something into my GI tract to help my BM's. Now I am having full blown diarrhea. It's like I'm living in my bathroom. <_< I didn't think I had anything left to get out. Is this a sign of possible labor to come? I haven't had any more contractions since this morning and none on my NST. Any advise would be great!

 

Definitely could be a sign! It was for me! Good luck. I am sorry you are so uncomfortable. I could recommend eating lots of bananas to try and stop it, but if biology is taking its course, there is probably nothing that can stop it!

 

I've heard that this can be a sign of labor, but I don't know how true it is... good luck, you're close in any case!

 

Yes it is - but it can happen weeks before. Your body is cleaning itself out to get ready for delivery

 

thats how my labour gets started! maybe a week before i actually lose my mucus plug thou.;

 

I had the same issue about 3 wks before I delivered, so maybe it's your body getting ready, or maybe not.... Good luck to you!

 

My peri just told me Friday that contractions with diarrhea may be a sign of labor. I still can't feel any contractions though. The OB said I'm having them, I just don't know when. I'm so excited for you!! Keep us posted!
