Hello! I am going to call the pediatrician today, but wanted to check with other Mom's to see if anyone else has experienced this. One of my twins has a really red spot on his bottom and we also noticed that it was breaking open and bleeding in several spots. We have stopped using wipes (even though we use the sensitive ones) and it is still there. We have also used some butt paste to see if that helped and nothing is working so far.

If anyone has experienced this or has any suggestions, please let me know. I feel so bad when we change him, it has to hurt.

    Thanks!

I dont think I've experienced having just one spot.. but I have seen some pretty bad rashes over the years.

The only thing that has worked for me when diaper cream didnt is corn starch. I was amazed. My oldes daughter had a really bad rash and I had never seen one like it and someone told me to use corn starch and it was almost gone by the next day.

Sounds like nappy rash to me. The best cream that has worked for me is Bepanthen (the oil not water based one). It clears it up brilliantly.

One of my babies has a bad diaper rash right now...no wipes, just clean with warm water and pat dry. I use Desitin constantly, and whenever I have the chance, I'm letting her go diaper-less to dry things out. I saw a big improvement as soon as I did that. Good luck--it's so painful!

I alternate between several products... right now I am in love with A&D, I go through a large tube A WEEK!!! I also love generic Desitin (the cheap stuff has a MUCH, MUCH higher amount of zinc oxide which is the active (protecting) ingredient). The only other thing I have to add, is make sure it's not a yeast infection. If it is, none of the above will work. You will need an anti-fungal.

    Good Luck!

I used Triple Paste for my son's rash & it cleared it up in a day. It's costs $8.00 at wal-mart & worth every penny! I have used butt paste on my son but it was way too drying for his skin. Good luck!

I also recommend triple paste and using warm water to clean the bottom and letting it air dry. Good call on contacting the pediatrician as well. Let us know how you make out!

Air time! Let it completely air out and then slather with a diaper cream that has some zinc oxide on it. If that doesn't clear it up it could be yeast and then the pedi can prescribe something. GL!

We're going through this right now since our boys have had runny stools for almost a week. Poor Eli is seriously suffering. The Desitin was useless, but we bought some butt paste and some powder call Caldesene. The powder was nice, and the butt paste was better than Desitin.

I also put him in a cloth diaper, with no cover, for a few hours in the evening.

Thanks everyone for your advice...we are going to take him to the pediatrician today at 3, so I'll let you know what we find out.

BTW-How do you let such a little guy go without a diaper AND keep everything clean!!! I'm afraid my little guys might pee all over the place!

I have girls so maybe its different... but after they pee I take the diaper off and let them air out on a towel in the play room. You could even put a water proof mattress pad down too just in case. GL at the pedi appointment.

Went to pediatrican and she seemed very surprised that what we had tries didn't work already. She prescribed an antibiotic ointment we have to put on him 3 times a day. I got 2 doses in last night, so hopefully it will clear up soon! Thanks to everyone for your suggestions/comments!!
