So in the past if one of them got a hint of pink, I slathered them in Balmex or Desitin and by the next change they were flech colored again. 2 Days ago I notices this with DD and did just that. At the next change, I noticed it was actually worse. This has been going on for what will be 3 days today.

I have tried my mothers good old corn starch system and that has done nothing either.

It is not an all over rash, just 4 or 5 spots that I cant clear up.

I am writing becasue this morning when I washed her there, she started crying in pain.

Is there anything else I can do?

My pedi suggested that if either of my boys got a spotty diaper rash, to try an over the counter anti-fungal, like Lotrimin. Maybe try that?

It's possible that it's a yeast infection. My doctor has had me buy otc lotrimin for that.

It could be a yeast infection, but my DS Nicholas gets very irritated from the urine and stool. It's like bad skin reaction, sometimes diapers with dye do it too. I thought he had a diaper rash, then yeast, finally I brought him to the Dr who said it was almost like an allergic/eczema reaction. I have to put hydocortisone on it to make it calm down. I would call the Dr and have him look at it if it doesn't get better.

When T got a yeast rash I pretty much alternated lotrimin and hydrocortisone, with one or two "bare" diapers a day for some air. My doc also suggested using soap and water rather than wipes to clean him up, as the wipes leave a film of bacteria.

And what worked best, in the end, was a single 15-minute dose of sunshine.

They have been eating more solids and drinking less formula lately. As a result they have had a lot more poopy diapers. Just about every diaper I change is poopy. Also DD does have eczema.

I think I will try some hydrocortizone until I can get the lotrimin.

Thanks ladies............. I love you all!

One of my sons has an allergic reaction similar to that. He'll get a few spots that almost look like they are burned. You said they have been eating more solids lately. You may want to keep track of what you are feeding them. My son reacts to strawberries, corn & whole eggs. If the poop is making the rash worse, which his would. Our doc said to put Pepto Bismol (liquid) on the skin & allow to dry. Cover with a clear diaper cream. The Pepto Bismol will protect the skin from the acid in the poop just like it protects the stomach.
For yeast infections I use monistat.

Lots of great ideas! Just tossing out one more thing that works for me - slather them in lanolin (aka breastfeeding cream). It's really sticky and thick and won't just rub off onto the diaper. Hope that rash clears up soon!
