Baylinn has diaper rash and I can't seem to get it to go away. I've tried both Balmex and Desitin, but it still looks awful - red and bumpy. She's had it for about two weeks now. It doesn't seem to be bothering her, but I hate to see it every diaper change.

Any suggestions on what to do? Do I need to take her to the doctor?

I swear by A&D but it does take a few days to go away. I slather on a ton of it at every diaper change when they are raw.

Annalise had this too and finally we asked the dr. about it. Turns out it was yeast! We had gotten a prescription filled for her and it cleared up pretty quick.

When my ds had a bad diaper rash I mixed Aquaphor with butt paste diaper cream and that did the trick. If it continues, you might want to take your little one to the ped. just in case it's a yeast rash. I'm not sure what the treatment for that would be, but mainly so they can get it done and overwith. :hug99:

It does kinda sound like yeast! Try some good air time, baths with vinager in them and an antifungal cream. Just regular ol Lotramin from the drug store would be fine and safe for a small amount of time!

If it turns out not to be yeast - we swear by the Butt Paste that is mixed up in the pharmacy (we use Walgreens). It's super thick and almost coarse, but it took less than a full day to clear up a horrible case of diaper rash. Maybe the pedi would just call in a RX w/o a visit.

    Good Luck!

When my son was in the NICU-he got a nasty diaper rash-where it was all red and bumpy. Looked very sore. When we brought him to the pedi appt-he said it was yeast. He was given Nystatin and it cleared up within a few days. I would maybe put a call into the pedi's office. Good luck!
