One of my boys is developing a bad diaper rash. :cray: It is all red and looks like the areas are almost "welt-like". It only seems to bother him when I clean him off from a diaper change. I have slathered Aveeno diaper cream all over him every diaper change and I wash him with a clean warm cloth. Any tips...ideas...a product that worked for you?

Also....has anyone heard of using Maloxx? as a diaper rash cream? someone told me that it nuetralizes the acids in foods and will prevent the rash from beginning in the first place? :umm:

I make my own butt cream from equal parts lanolin, zinc cream, and vaseline. Even just plain lanolin works wonders! Good for sore nipples - good for sore butts!

Yes! I have heard of the Maalox, although I have never tried it. I used a combo of Neosporin, Desitin, Monistat, and a bit of corn starch....it has something for every kind of rash!

My Dr. told me to use A+D and if it gets really bad Neosporin. Good Luck.

Yes - the pharmacist should make it for you. It is half Maloxx and half Aquaphor. It is impossible to make at home (like trying to mix oil and vinegar) It does work...the key no matter what you use is to make sure his bum is BONE DRY! (When my ds had diarrhea, I had to blow on his bum to make sure it was totally dry before I put gobs and gobs of cream on)

Burts Bee's Baby Bees bottom stuff was amazing for us.
Some naked time is good too.
As well as a bit of baking soda in the bath.
Sometimes when it would get really bad for the kiddo's I would do a timered hourly diaper changes. This usually helped it go away with in a day or two.

I used the Maalox on my first daughter's bum...it was so bad that she refused to sit down. But, I did not use Aquafor, I used Eucerin. The Eucerin (only in the tub, and not the generic) is as thick or thicker than Crisco! My dr told me to mix the Eucerin with Maalox, and mix it (yes, in the big kitchenaid mixer) until it is the consistency of frosting. It worked wonders, especially after I had tried everything else available, including Rxs that cost way too much money. Basically, I dumped the entire tub of Eucerin into the mixer, and I added Maalox (I could only find strawberry for some reason) gradually, until it was a good frosting consistency. I put most of it back into the Eucerin tub, and then had a smaller tub in the diaper bag.
