Xanders poor little butt is all red and bumpy and raw enough to be bleeding a little. The funny thing is, he doesn't seem to mind! [IMG] I've been using neosporin and I called the dr yesterday and she said to keep using the neosporin and call if by Tues. he's not better or worse. Just wondering if any of you have secret little tricks that have worked?

When Trevor came home from the NICU he had a diaper rash like that. I found Butt Paste really worked well for it. That is what I use when I see a diaper rash starting on him.

DESITIN! cream that little butt up with a ton of it. if possible, let him go diaperless for a bit so the air can get to it and dry it up. I never tried it, but I was told something like bag balm works well too...but never tried that one.

    lots of air and desitin.

PS - I LOVE the name Xander! When I was preggo, that name was very high on my list, but then I found out that there were 2 boys and I couldnt find another boy name that i liked to go with it. But I love it and am glad to see that someone else liked it too (my family thought I was crazy! [IMG]) anyhow - totally off topic...... [IMG]

I have heard as well that that is really good... if it is that bad, maybe you can ask the pedi's office to prescribe some Nystatin cream... Zack's rash got that bad one time, and that is what they prescribed and it cleared up within 2 days.

both of my girls had really, really bad diaper rashes when they were 1 month old....the doctors actually called it chemical burns....it was so bad, it hurts me to think back to that time b/c they would scream so hard when we would change their diapers...we did the "barrier method".. where you do neosporin and then a barrier on top.. and also tried to air out their little butts all the time......we tried EVERYTHING!!!!! desitin, butt paste, a & d, balmex, etc...... BUT we finally figured out that is was the medications i was taking (from mastitis and a yeast infection in my breast to top everything off!!!) coming through my breast milk.....then I decided to stop breastfeeding b/c of this and other personal reasons and as soon as I stopped the diaper rash went away immediately!! I mean I am serious...they had blister looking burns on their butts and they closed up so quickly!!!!

other than that I would keep trying the zinc oxide based diaper rash creams and just change them as much as possible and pat them dry when you do.....

YES....the trick is to let him be naked for a while after diaper changes if you can and then I used to put the powder to get it completely dry and then I would put yeast infection cream and rub that in as well as possible and THEN put a VERY THICK LAYER OF DESITIN ORIGINAL!!! That did the trick!
