Our family wants to buy us a diaper pail but not sure which one is the best. Was thinking the Diaper Genie II but then I heard of another one that is supposedly better, can't remember the name.

    Any suggestions??

    Thanks ladies.

Hate 'em all... triple wrap our diapers and drop them in the trash. (Toxic waste goes straight outside to the big cans ;) We take our trash out several times a day, and this works for me. I've never had a good experience with any diaper pail and I've tried quite a few.

I also will say I hate them. I think they are a waste of money! We used ours for the first two weeks - it is just so much easier to throw in the trash. Ours havent even really started stinking yet, so it hasnt been an issue. If your family wants to buy you something i would suggest they buy something else. With twins, you dont have time to mess with those things.

The diaper champ is good because it uses regular size garbage bags and you don't have to fool with those stupid inserts. However, it does stink after awhile. If I would empty it once a week, it might not stink so much but I forget because it holds so many diapers!

I remember with my firstborn having a Diaper Genie- I used it twice and got rid of it! They're horrible! When you go to throw out your collection of dirty diapers, the stench is unbearable. We just put stinky diapers in a grocery bag (wrap it up tight) and throw it away in our regular garbage can, which gets taken out daily. Tell them not waste their $$!

I never heard anything good about diaper genies! I use a trash can similar to this one or this might be the one we use I'm not sure. We'd received it as a wedding present but it was too small to use as our main garbage can once we bought a house, so it was perfect for the babies' room. I empty it once a day and their room doesn't ever smell at all, I guess because of the lid. I would recommend just using a garbage can that has a lid, similar to this one.

I use the diaper champ, we have no smell except when we turn the handle for a minute or so... and it's handy because we don't have to carry diapers across the house every time we change a baby. Plus I love not having to buy special bags for it... I use Glad bags.

Granted, we've only been using it a month, but I really like the Diaper Genie II. We put the plain wet diapers in a little trash can, the poopy ones in the diaper genie. The first cartridge just ran out last night, and we got a few on a good sale at BRU (I think 2 for $10 or something). So far, we're pretty happy to have it.

We use the Diaper Dekor XL. You have to buy it on line. But the website says it's for, "multiple births, large families, in-home daycare, adult incontinence products". http://www.diaperdekor.com/comparison.htm I figure, if it can handle adult incontinence products, it can handle anything. We like it so far but we not on solid food yet. We live in a third floor condo, so it's not convenient for us to take out garbage every day. Nor is it convenient to get twins in and out of our place, but that's another story...

I use cloth diapers so it's not the same, but I really like the safety first diaper pail...it was like $12, it can fit a kitchen trash bag (we used it with disposables when they were super tiny and coouldn't fit the cloth well), and it has a little place for a deoderizor at the top...I put a few drops of lavendar and tea tree oil on a little cloth and keep it in that top compartment and you never smell our diapers. I wash them every other day, though, so not sure how it would be to keep it filled it for longer.

    Diaper Champ for sure!!!!!

We used one with the boys and already have the new one ready for the baby. We used it up till the boys were just over 2 years old. We had a horrible stomach flu in the house last january and the diaper champ contained the smell. THANK GOD!!!
never had any problems with it and it uses regular trash bags. I found a brand new one on Craigslist a few months ago for $5.00

I have the Diaper Dekor and absolutely love it. Never had any problems with it and love the fact that you can lift the lid with your foot and never have to push a diaper in. I would buy it again, and actually did for our upstairs after the twins were born.

I LOVE my diaper pail thing... It's the First Years Clean Air Diaper Pail. My twins are 10 months and I use it for every single diaper change. It uses regular garbage bags, which is great! It does have a filter thing that we change every time the batteries run out.. We've changed it 4 times in the past 10 months, not bad in my opinion. The filters are also really easy to find, I get mine at Target.
It never smells and it holds a whole garbage bag full of diapers... We empty it once a week for garbage day.
    Good luck in your search!

Thank you all for your input. I'll look around online some more for customer satisfaction reports.

Kind of leaning towards the diaper champ atm.

Same here. We used it with older dd and now with the twins. All three kiddos are in diapers and we keep it in the bathroom next to both of their rooms. We change it out every 2 days. I bleach it all, wipe with Lysol wipes, and then spray with Lysol...that might help with the smell.

Beware the HIDDEN COSTS of specialized diaper pails! You end up paying "subscription"-like moolah for the bags, etc.

Even the ones that use regular trash bags aren't really that much better than just carrying the dirty-diapies to the main house garbage can. . . might as well just empty the things on a daily basis anyways.

Besides, it won't be long before the babies do some really smelly diapies that you just have to get out of your home IMMEDIATELY. We take those kind and wrap them in grocery store plastic bags, knot the bags, and dispose of them immediately in the outdoor garbage can.

When we used more disposables (we use cloth Bum Genius now for the most part) we used the Diaper Genie II. Works out to be pretty expensive though, as we went through a refill a week with twins @ $5 a pop. Now we just use the rubbish bin, and empty it out pretty quickly.
