    Hello,

Ok, I'm here in the hospital so I know I can ask Dr.s these questions too. But I'm just confused about
this whole funneling thing now that I found out today that I'm 1cm dialated. He said my cervix is still thick?
What does it mean if I keep dialating? But in the funneling part of it? (meaning just the inner portion).
Has anyone been through this before? He said if I was like this at 32 weeks I could go home? Do you think
he is just saying that to be nice? My friend said that dr.'s get greedy when your in the hospital. Meaning...
"oh, lets have you stay a few more weeks..." I want to do whats best for the babies of coarse. I've
been here for almost 6 weeks. This is hard you guys. I'm hanging in though...phew.... just saw my Mom
    and my daughter.

How far along are you? I had a cerclage, but funneled despite it. They did let me go home at 28 weeks because my cerclage was holding my cervix shut tight. But I started having contractions on my way to a peri appointment just shy of 31 weeks, and they found that baby A's water had broken and I was dilated 1cm, and I was immediately admitted and given a rescue round of steroids. I delivered 48 hours later.

So I think it depends on how far along you are, and I can't remember if you have a cerclage...

    I'm 29 weeks and 3 days. No, I didn't have a cerclage.

Interesting, I guess once your water breaks your going into labor. That happened with my daughter. But they say
pregnant moms can go for weeks dialated. Hmmm????

How big were your babies? And how did everything go since you were 31 weeks? And how long in NICU? Sorry-
am I bombarding you with questions :) I know every case is different.

I really don't know anything about funneling except what little bit you have talked about. But I can hear in your posts how badly you want to be home. I am so sorry that time hasn't come yet but I will be praying that nothing changes in the next 2 weeks and maybe at 32 weeks you will get to go home to your family. Hang in there.. you really are doing great.

I'm confused about all that too. I'm also 1 cm dilated but my last US showed my cervix between 3.3-3.6 cm. I have no idea what that means. Sorry you have to stay in the hospital. I was there over the weekend and all i wanted to do is go home. hopefully you can go home soon :hug99:

They were going to try to keep me pregnant one additional week, despite my water breaking. They had gotten the contractions under control, but baby A had her cord wrapped around her feet and she was threatening to push her cord out (prolapse) and it was safer to deliver them than risk a prolapsed cord. You can go for weeks dialated.

My girls were 3lb4oz and 3lb8oz, and they did great. They were in the NICU for 5 and 6 weeks, one was on room air from the beginning and the other just needed a couple days oxygen support. They were basically feeders/growers. I think the steroid shots really helped.

Really??? That sounds like me?? My cervix is about as thick as yours?? I really haven't had any contraction
issues-(knock on wood).... Well once I was dehydrated and had a few. And then another time due to the
steriod shots I had. They say that happens because of the steriod shots.

I asked my Dr. all about this today and it's really all up in the air and "mother nature". Drives me crazy sometimes
    not knowing answers....

I do want to be home with my family. But then again, it makes me nervous too. I really wish I had a normal
pregnancy walking around! :) And labor too :)!
