How long should I continue to wash the boys clothes in special detergent (Dreft, etc.)?

I think I used Dreft for the first couple of months and then decided to use the regular detergent. Dreft was too expensive, and my girls did not seem to have any allergies.

I stopped a few weeks ago and have had no problems.

I think Dreft is a complete marketing ploy. We never used it. Plus, it seems to have a really heavy fragrance I don't like.

ETA: I'm pretty sure the NICU didn't use it and the girls wore clothes and used bedding washed there for the first two months of their lives.

We never used Dreft. We use All Free and Clear. It's cost effective, gets clothes clean and doesn't irritate babies' skin.

We also use All Free and Clear. It's inexpensive and we really like it.

We never used it. But I wash everything in our family in Tide Free. It's worked well for us.

I used/use the Baby All. I am just using the rest of the bottle up and then we are going to use the All Free and Clear just like we use for our clothes.

Same here. They don't make HE Dreft so it was never an option for me.

We're using Baby All, they only sell it at KMart around me, but's it's so much cheaper... I'll probably continue until a year b/c the girls skin is pretty dry...

I agree with some here that Dreft is totally not necessary -- ever, I would add -- and is nothing more than a marketing ploy. It's ridiculously expensive. Using All or Tide fragrance/dye free detergent is perfectly fine and Costco usually carries the big containers of them. Just watch on the dryer sheets. Some contain perfumes.
