As I was leaving the Walmart bathroom with the boys in the SNG another stroller was trying to come in so I backed up to let them in. Unfortunately she tried for 2-3 minutes with the help of another patron or two trying to enter/leave the bathroom and the stroller simply couldn't make the S curve into the bathroom (no door just the S maze to come in). It was 4 month old twins in a duoglider (no carseats, she has convertibles). As we exited, I saw how antsy she was - she obviously had to go and bad. So I volunteered to watch the babies for a second while she went to the restroom. I could tell, even with my own twins in tow she was super nervous about the idea. Mother nature won out and she left the babies with me. And the relief on her face that we were still there when she raced out was evident. I can only imagine how hard that would be to leave your babies with a complete stranger. I also wondered what I would have done in her situation. Would you leave your babies with a stranger?

Wow, good question. I guess you looked trustworthy - and being that you had twins yourself, maybe she figured you understood - or if you tried to run you wouldn't get very far with 4 babies!! : )
I am not sure what I would have done - honestly, I might have just gone home...

Oh yikes. I really don't know. I might gone to the car and slid a diaper into my pants and peed on that. I don't think I could leave my babies with a total stranger.

Its one of those "it depends on the situation", but I think had it been another mom of twins I may have been more likely to do it! She could have unsnapped the babies and brought them in in thier carriers with her, though I would have just gone home before doing that!!

I think if I really needed to go, I would trust another mom with kids to watch mine for a second. Who's going to run off with that many kids?

I don't know what DH would think when he found out, though. He's more paranoid than I am.

I couldn't have done it. I would have peed with the door open before I left them with someone. Maybe I would have peed with the door open while someone else was with them.

Really interesting question. Like you, I totally would have offered to watch the babies while she peed, but I don't know if I would have taken someone up on the offer.

Last time we flew this very nice woman offered to hold one of the girls in the corridor before getting on the plane (while DH was closing the stroller). At first I was like, Oh no no we are fine, but she insisted! I was freaked out by it, but she turned out to be such a sweet person and was sitting behind us in the plane and played with the girls and even helped when we got off the plane! At the luggage check, she introduced us to her husband and he said we made her trip!

I guess it has to be a case by case decision, but I hate that I was so quick to be nervous and jaded. Its a scary world so its understandable, but its still sad that we can't trust each other. "It takes a village..." and all that.

I have rolled the stroller in front of the door and left the door open. This is one thing singleton moms dont get, peeing in public with two babies. My SIL's mom works at our WalMart so usually if I have to pee I will ask her to stand guard.
