My employers annual enrollment time is up again and obviously the girls are on our health insurance, but they aren't covered by dental or vision yet. I don't think they need the likes of vision, but what about dental? When do they start going for routine visits, etc?

    TIA!

Our dentist told us that we should take them in at 3 for a checkup. That being said, we have always carried dental and vision for all of us since you never know when you will need it.

Where DH works, enrollment time is also now. We are adding K&M to the dental plan. At our dentist's recommendation, we will take them for their first official check up within 2 months (they will be 3 in 2 weeks!). I was concerned about some white spots on Michael's teeth so he has already been to the dentist. I took him with me and the dentist looked at his teeth during one of my check ups. BTW, he is not a pediatric dentist but there is one in the practice.

Our health insurance includes vision and they are already on our plan.

Our pedi recommends they start seeing the dentist when they have teeth  We haven't taken them yet, but we put them on our insurance last open enrollment so that we could take them this year. If it were me, I think I'd add them for the coming year :)

Our enrollment deadline was today. Our dental coverage was horrible so I declined the dental insurance for us. Most of the "approved" dentists are not in our area. I did get the vision because it has really great benefits.

Our pedi. and my dentist recomend first dental visit around 3, or a little after. All of our girls are on both the vision and dental plan. For us, it is easier to get them on when they are born than any other time, and the vision and dental part is really cheap (like $20 a year per kid) so the benefits of having it just in case outweigh the cost - even if we don't end up using it until later.

My DH's open enrollment is now and we're adding them. Ella chipped her tooth a few months back and wished we would have added them when they were born. Better to have it and not use it!

We are all on Dental. Ben had his first visit at around 18 months because two of his baby teeth on the bottom are fused together. I NEED to make an appt again for him and for Hannah this time (he recommends coming when most of their teeth are in, if I remember correctly). The visits are $85, $55 of which is covered by our insurance.

My girls are on my medical and dental insurance plans. They went for their first dental visit in August. The insurance covered everything without any problems. The only other insurance I have for them is some voluntary life insurance.

We have carried medical, dental and vision insurance for the kids since they were born.

All four of us have full coverage. We have medical, dental and vision. I'm glad that we decided to put the kids on the vision plan because Kelly wound up with eye issues and wears glasses. The kids have only been to the dentist for a check up and polishing once so far but still we feel good knowing it is there if we need it.
