Does anyone have any tips on not getting dehydrated over night? I drink water before bed, and often drink water when I inevitably get up to hit the restroom during the night. However, in the morning I wake up a few pounds lighter with a dry mouth and I am completely thirsty. Someone suggested coconut water, but that's not doing much. Any other suggestions or tips? Thanks.

I have that problem, too. I drink all day long but feel all dried out when I wake up in the morning. I just keep a glass of water beside my bed and take a sip or two here and there when I wake up. I also drink a glass as soon as I get up in the morning. I can't help with the coconut milk. I don't know anything about that.

Same here. :good: I would wake up with dry lips and feeling very thirsty, but usually after a glass of water I started feeling better. I never did anything bad that I didn't drink during the night all the time.

Since the day I found out I was pregnant I've had a "stuffy" nose and I have to sleep with my mouth open.. I wake up with a nasty dry mouth and lips and feel so parched.. I keep my water bottle by my bed and everytime i wake up to pee or if my son wakes up, I always down some water.. but it doesn't matter I always wake up feeling parched..

You are doing great if you are drinking enough water during the day!!

Same issue here - the entire pregnancy. I keep a styrofoam cup w/ lid next to the bed with iced down water - it is SO REFRESHING at 2am :)

Well glad to hear we're all in the same boat. Maybe I'm just keenly tuned in to signs of dehydration now. Thanks everyone!

P.S. RE my comment about coconut water above, that was supposedly something Rebecca Romajin drank while she was pregnant with her twins. She claimed the natural electrolytes helped her stay hydrated. I think it tastes funny and haven't seen that it does anything that a glass of good ole' H2O doesn't do.

Last night I was dreaming of water. I kept trying to drink some, but the cup was empty. I was also cramoing really bad in the dream. It woke me up and I was cramping "growing pains" and so thirsty!!! I always keep a huge water bottle next to my bed and sip ok gulp on it everytime I go to the bathroom.

Is it possible that you're over hydrating during the day? I'm probably not one to take advice from but I was in the hospital with contractions so the nurses were telling me to drink tons of water. I was up to 6 - 8 bottled waters per day and the contractions weren't getting better. The peri came during rounds and saw all the empty bottles. He asked how much I was drinking and told me that if I over hydrate, my body will become more efficient at getting rid of excess fluid. He said that for my size, I should only be drinking 4 bottles of water plus what I normally have at meals. A full bladder can also cause contractions and I was much more comfortable after I cut back on the water. If this sounds like it makes sense for you, you may want do discuss the appropriate amt of fluid intake with your doctor.
