I found out tonight that a friend of mines cousin who suffered with infertility for YEARS was finally blessed 2 weeks ago with a baby boy named Ryan. This morning they awoke to find Ryans abodoman distended and brusied and rushed him to the ER where he was airlifted to a bigger hospital. He is fighting for his life tonight. At 2 weeks old his liver is failing and he is in need of a transplant if he has any hope of survival. As I was patting Willa Grace back to sleep tonight and praying over her for peace and good sleep and health and happyness I found myself feeling this over whelming fear. I can't even imagin what these parents are going through. I have been praying for Ryan from them moment I learned of this and did so again as I was praying over Willa Grace but I feel so small and helpless. I know we only did a short stent in the NICU but it has left me scared. I have spoken with my dr about my fears and am told this is normal but its so scary that something like this can happen when they are so small and helpless.

I would like to ask for prayers for Baby Ryan if thats alright. If this is something that we are not suppost to do on this board someone let me know I will understand I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable but if it is all right he can use all the prayers he can get.

    I am praying for him.

I did want to encourage you- my boss' granddaughter was born with a failing liver. She got a transplant and is about 10 or so now. She is the Colorado Liver Transplant spokesperson of the year. (I hope I got her title right!!) my boss says of all her grandkids she is the sweetest and most spiritual. Although she does have to do take extra precautions she is a healthy little girl who is thriving.

I will definitely be praying for him and his family. I completely understand your feelings- I had a 9 year old cousin die very unexpectedly of a disease we didn't even know she had fairly recently. She was fine one day and 2 days later she was gone. I feel like there are some situations that are simply just not in our hands. The only thing left to do is pray and support the family. I still wake up some nights panicked about my girls. You will be in my thoughts.

Update this morning on baby Ryan. It's not good. His blood is not clotting. He had a transfusion last night. His blood pressure is low; glucose is low; temperature is low...his body is going haywire... Not much that can be done by anyone other than God and hopefully thought Him the doctors. I asked my friend if they were asking people yet to be tested I assume they will transplant a piece of liver from a live donor. I am not sure what all this intales but as a momma who fought with IF I feel like I need to try and help if I can.

It is very scary to hear something like this and makes us appreciate what we have a little more. Your friend is in my prayers. I had a friend lose her son to a congenital heart defect over the summer and he was only 12 months, and it is so hard to deal with the "it's not fair" feeling when someone goes through that. I hope the baby gets his transplant and goes on to live a long and healthy life.
