DH and I are heading to the beach in two weeks w/ our 22 month old boys. YIKES!!! I remember someone (I'm sorry I can't remember who) mentioned using baby powder or corn starch to get sand off the kids easily?!?!? Anyone remember that post or poster?

Any other tips for the beach?

    TIA!

Yes, baby powder takes sand off pretty easily. Just put it on and wipe. You can also try rinsing them off in the showers that they may have (my area beach has them indoors and out). I haven't had much problems with sand at all, either at the beach or the park. Have fun!!

Definitely bring along some baby powder. It does the trick for getting sand off.

Did you buy them water shoes? Water shoes were a god send when we spent the week at the beach.

I have the aqua shoes from Stride Rite (they are like tennis shoes that also go in the water). Here is a link to the newer ones -- mine are from the outlet http://www.striderite.com/jump.jsp?itemID=...=705&KICKER

Do you think these will work? We rented a house with a pool on the sound. We are in walking distance of the beach and wasn't sure if the boys were going to like the sand or not.

    Thanks!

We took ours to the beach for the first time at 23 mos. Didn't know about the baby powder!! Watch them because they will try to eat it and it's NOT COOL! They poop it for a good week!! :p Also don't expect them to love the texture right away!!! TONS of sunscreen!! They may not want to be taken into the water either.....

    Have fun!!! :a_smil09:

I definitely am planning on bringing corn starch for the girls- they are only 13 months, but since we live by the beach- I've found cornstarch does work the best...as far as bringing two babies...that's going to be the challenge ;)

We're going to the beach next week & I just bought a special sunblock that is dry- it's supposed to be sand resistant. I tried it out & it felt really good. After you rub it in, it's like you rubbed on baby powder. I think it's by Coppertone.
    have fun!

Yep, baby powder (cornstarch) is a must! We also like to bring lots of sand toys, sandals, wide-brimmed hats, and lots of cold water to drink! We have those UV protection suits too for the kids to wear. I like them because they can get wet but dry easily, they provide more sun protection, and they keep the sand away from the diaper area a bit more.

I'm going to have to check out that coppertone sunblock. Sounds cool.

never heard of the baby powder trick! how cool! Good you have the house within walking distance... dh and I have vowed that this is the only way we will stay at the beach with the kids again...getting in and out of the car to and from the beach is sooo not fun!! I'd rather pay twice as much to stay at the beach for the convenience of it.
