I have been concerned for a little while about one of my daughters. Whenever she pulls up on anything or pushes a pushtoy her right foot is turned completely out and her left foot is "normal" or pointed straight ahead. Should I be worried about this? Oh, BTW, they were born at 33.5 weeks. Of course I am immediately thinking CP.....they don't have their 12 month check-up for another 3 weeks or so and I am definitely going to bring it up then, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My DS was doing it and at his 12 month appointment the pedi said that he would probably grow out of it. He watch Trent crawl to make sure that it wasnt affecting that. The pedi said that if Trent was still doing it at his 15 month appointment he would refer us to someone. We go for our 15 month appointment this week and there is no problem now. Trent is running all over the place.

I know that it is so hard not to worry about stuff like this, but try not to.

Ian had the same thing with his left foot/leg. He would kind of drag it when he crawled and turn it out when he walked. The ped said it should correct itself by age two. He is now 19 mos and I don't even notice...he's running all over and looks normal now.
Hope your DD grows out of her issues too!

Our PT suggested shoes with a loth of ankle support. We've got sandals by ECCO - they help a lot!

they think my son has cp.....but its because hes 14 months and not pulling up yet. I think if shes already standing its probably not that.

My friend's baby had the same thing and the ped called it out-toeing.

Here is an article on it.

Thank you very much for posting this article! Ainsley walks with her feet turned outward. We had been chalking up to her still being unsteady, as she just started walking at 19 months, but she's still doing it. She is no longer officially in EI, but the PT will be coming out once a month to check on her. I'm going to ask about it, since it's still going on. I will also bring it up at their next check up. She does still seem to trip and fall over her own feet and at times.

My Hannah did this for about 3 weeks after she just learned how to stands and push her walker toy around, but it just suddenly dissappeared after the three weeks and she now moves about normally. I'm glad you wrote this. My family keeps teasing me that I'm overly paranoid and tend to ascribe syndromes to my kids that they don't have, but I knew it was something to be vigilant about. I would talk to the Ped. if it continues.
