Dd has cold #2 ever. This time her nose is running badly and she has a bad cough. She has had no fever. At what point do you call the pedi? I know there is nothing they can do for her (only we can use the humidifier, saline spray, aspirator, etc) at just a year old but I am worried about what to do if the cough gets worse.

If it is concerning you, I would take her in. Just because she doesn't have a fever, doesn't mean she doesn't have a bacterial infection that can be treated. I hope she is feeling better soon!

I never take K&K to the doc for colds. I just wanted to say that I might steer clear of the aspirator....often times they make the child produce more mucous which is something you probably want to try to avoid.

Hope she is feeling better soon!

My Pedi does the 3 day rule if they do not get better, less coughing, less #2 then they will make a sick appt. that day. If your Pedi has a Nurse on call I would ask so you feel better about it.

If she is not having other symptoms I would wait until she has had it a week or so. I usually get mine checked out about 5-7days if their symptoms do not start to subside. All mine are prone to secondary ear infections with the common cold though, so it is important to get them checked.

I would wait too. If she develops a worse cough or shows any signs of breathing difficulty (wheezing, labored breaths, etc.) then take her in.
