i'm a little concerned because one of my girls has been hitting herself in the head for about a month now. it's not an every day thing, thankfully, but it mostly happens in the high chair, after meals, she'll smile and just throw her hands up to her head, over and over again, and sometimes she'll bang her head back into the chair. it's not extra hard but it's hard enough for me to worry about this behavior. they are 13.5 months old. anyone else?

It's normal. Some babies bang their heads against the crib rails to soothe themselves to sleep. My DS especially went through this stage.

It's normal at this age, for sure. Mine usually banged their heads into other inanimate objects like the wall or the crib, but I would think that hitting herself with her hands in the head is the same concept. It should pass soon. :)

Both of mine did this. It used to worry me because I was afraid they would hurt themselves!

At almost 19 months, both my boys still do it. Josh seems to do it more than Jake. I've noticed that he does it when he is bored and also at bedtime as a way to soothe himself to sleep.

I had a DD that did this too. She would also bang her head on the floor and the wall. She hasn't done it in a long time and I think its because she has better ways of expressing her frustration now (like yelling at me and itemizing all the ways I've wronged her in the last 3 minutes!).

My DD does this when she's tired, so usually after dinner and while sitting in her highchair.

My guys bang their heads so much, you'd think they were in a heavy metal band.
