DD has aweful diaper rash...

My dd has an aweful diaper rash.. were putting rx diaper cream on it but her private parts have a white scab along with the really inflamed red.... any suggestions or do we just need to take her to the dr?

Definitely take her to the pedi. It could be a yeast infection combined with a diaper rash. Hope it gets better for her soon!

 

I was going to say yeast too. You would need an anti-fungal cream to clear that up!

I would take her in to the pedi to be safe but I wanted to add that my girls have had rashes in the past that sound like what you described and mine have never had a yeast infection. The best thing for it is to air it out and keep it dry. No wet wipes and we found that calmoseptine cream really helped.

 

Another thing we did was to add a couple tablespoons of vinegar to a tub of clean water and let them soak for 5-10 min. It helps to clean everything out. Then get her out of the tub and let her air dry.

ETA because I had a mommy brain moment and didn't tell you what we added to the water.

We've had our bouts of just plain old diaper rash... and a petroleum jelly or aquaphor as a base layer and then a diaper cream on top is what works for us. the doctor told us to layer both layers on thick. hopefully you can get it cleared up quick. rashes are icky!
