Ok, I got dd to let me put pigtails and she is actually leaving them in. Now what do I do at naptime? Do I leave them in? Take them out?

I'd leave them in, but be prepared to have to do damage-control afterward.

Thanks I figured, I was actually more worried that she'd try to pull them out and eat the hair tie thingy. I guess we have to try it sometime and who knows she hasn't fussed so far so maybe it will be ok.

I take them out. They can choke on the rubber bands, and one time Ainsley put a terry band on her wrist, unbeknownst (sp?) to me, before bed, and in the morning she had a big red mark around her wrist. If that had been the elastic kind, she could have seriously hurt herself.

I, too, take them out for naptimes. I am scared that she might try to eat it, eventhough she hasn't ever really tried. I am just paranoid I guess. :)

We take them out. I think Diane (dfaut) had an incident with one of her kids and those little rubberbands too cutting off the circulation. To me, it is just safer.

My DD has very tiny piggies and we take them out. Between her and her brother someone is always trying to chew on one of the ties.

I always take them out at naptime. I am too worried that they will pull them out and eat them while I can't keep an eye on tham.

Also yesterday in the car Ali put the elastic on her wrist and it was so tight. The only reason I knew is that she started saying ouch and holding her hand out for me.

We always take any hair doodads out at naptime and bedtime, for all the reasons other people posted.

I have to watch mckenna big time with rubber bands. she has stuck them on her wrists to the point her hand turned blue and left a mark for almost a week. I hide them now and only take out for special occasions!
