my girls are finally FINALLY switching back their nights/days, and have been up almost all day... my question is, how much did your babies sleep at 6-7-8 weeks old during the day? and how much time did they spend awake? because right now they're sleeping, and its almost 4pm, and they've been out most of the day, and i dont' know if i should wake them up and keep them stimulated so they don't stay up at night, or if i should just leave them be until the next feeding?
    did that make sense?
    thanks...

I'm trying to remember back then. I really don't remember mine being up much at that age. They eat, sleep, wake, play for just a little bit, then the same cycle. I would say as long as they are sleeping well at night, all is good.

At that age, mine were still sleeping most of the time. I wouldn't worry about it. Waking them up will only make them overtired, which will make it harder for them to sleep at night. I'd just try to capitalize on their wake times during the day, make things as fun and stimulating as you can for such young babies, and then keep things boring at night.

Sleep is going to be pretty random for a while until they are more mature (12-16 wks corrected age), so just go with the flow! Sounds like you're doing great. :)

I agree! You are doing a wonderful job! If it's working for them, just go with it. :hug99:

We are going through the same thing right now. Today one of my guys was up most of the day and the other was asleep most of the day (perhaps because he was up a lot last night). It seems to me that when I try to wake them up when they don't want to be, either they won't wake up or they are really grumpy. I say let them sleep.

in general, babies at this age should not be up for more than 1.5-2 hours without sleeping. at 6-8 weeks mine were asleep more than awake during the day, and it's just in this last week that some sort of schedule is emerging with the longest stretch of sleep at night (5-7 hours).

My twins didn't start being awake for 1 hour until 3 mo and now they are up to 1 1/2 to 2 hour a couple of times a day. The first 2 mo it was only 30 min most fo the time and they still slepts at night. Mine still take a nap get up to feed at 9 and go right back to bed for the night unitl 7 am. Babies need lots of sleep.
