I have heard horror stories about babies being off after adjusting the clocks for daylight savings. My girls are 6 months and sleep 11-12 hours per night. What should I expect (since it's only a week away)?

Maybe try altering their bed time by 15 minutes at a time starting in the next few days. Unless you have to have them down or up by an exact time, this should help with the transition.

Can you keep them on the same schedule they're on now (so it's a different time b/c of the time change, but not to their schedule)? That's what we're planning on doing. If not, I agree with pp to alter their schedule in small increments over the next few days.

Like pp, we are hoping to keep everything the same and, ultimately have them wake an hour later and go to bed an hour later. (They have been waking as early as 5:30, and are about to pass out by 6:30 - the new sched. would let us sleep longer and give us time for their bath after dinner!) It was actually the time change in the fall that started all of this - they used to wake between 6:30 and 7. So, I guess it just depends on whether or not your schedule is working for you. it really messed things up for about a week for us.......you'll just have to see how the babies handle it....and re-adjust.....I'm not looking forward to it either.

During the first year, I also adjusted their schedules by 15 minutes every two nights or so during the week before daylight savings time. They would wake up a little early for a few days after the change but then readjusted. If you have room-darkening blinds, this helps a lot.

During the second year, I just adjusted all of our schedules and we all woke up an hour later and went to bed an hour later so there were no adjustments to make. The girls adjusted their own schedules based on sunrise and I moved bedtime accordingly.

You can adjust them 15 min. a day and be right on track when the time changes. The biggest problem with this time change is the light. I had to buy a blackout shade for their room after DST last year!

    I hadn't thought about what I'll do! [IMG] Let's see....we spring forward, so 7 a.m. becomes 8 a.m., right? [IMG] YAY!

I think I'll just keep putting mine down at 7 p.m. and hope for the best, but I have heard of the adjustment working!

DST is way too early this year for me. MARCH? Weird! Anyways, yeah keep the schedule the same and it might take a few days to a week for the kidlets to adjust. [IMG]

Oh geez!!!!! I just realized I moved their bedtimes the WRONG WAY! [IMG] I moved their bedtimes to 8pm so when DST went into effect they would go to bed at 7pm, right??? Hahahaha.... oh no, now they'll want to go to bed at 9pm!!!! [IMG] [IMG] I'm such a retard!!!!! [IMG] Well, at least I have time to fix this error!

I need specifics to figure this out!!!!! [IMG]

Can you tell me EXACTLY what you would do if your babies had this schedule?

They go to bed at 7:00 and wake between 6 and 7.

Since summer is on its way, i would be happy with their new bed time being at 8 and having them wake an hour later.

I moved their bedtime by 15 minutes at a time every other day. If you don't mind them going to sleep at 8pm and they go to bed at 7pm now, just keep them on the same schedule.

We are keeping our current schedule since it will warmer soon and the boys can be out more in the evenings. We are actually looking forward to it!

Right now they go to bed at 7:15 which is a bit early b/c by the time I get home from work at 6:15 I can't spend much time with them and we have to wait on dinner after bedtime. They wake b/w 6:00-7:00am so I'm hoping that will be more like 7-8am [IMG]

    So Stephe,
When the clock says 8:15, that is when you will put them to bed?? But to the babies it is 7:15??

And then every night after that their bed time will be 8:15. I would love that!

I dont know why I cant visualize how this works!!!!!!

I was pretty worried last fall when we went from daylight savings to standard time. We didn't do any adjusting prior to the change - just went cold turkey to the new schedule. We didn't notice any issues. Now, the days were much shorter and it was dark, so that may have made a difference.

I wasn't planning on doing anything different this time, but maybe I should run out and get some drapes that would darken the sides of the blinds we already have. Light leaks through the sides.

    Is this how it works?

Current - go to bed at 7:30.
New - go to bed at 7:30 (to their bodies, it will feel like 6:30)
