i am about to place an order from mabels labels for my kids.
do i do separate labels for each of them or get one with our last name.

    not sure.

i dont label clothes or anything as of right now but would like to be more consistent and organized.

how do you ladies do it? i know some of you actually have an at-home daycare and was wondering your thoughts on labeling clothes, food containers, etc.

ETA - also the baby clothes dont really come with tags; not sure when that changes??? like size-wise? there is a package with labels to stick on clothing and i wasn't sure if i should do the iron-ons or the sticky ones.

We just did the girls initials on the tag with permanent marker. They have the same initials and we never had any problems.

If your at home lady is licensed, she may be required to have some things separate. I would ask her what the rules are. For us, we have to label all sippies/bottles/personal items with their full name. For shared items (clothes, sheets, blankets, diapers, wipes, cream), I just put our last name in them.

I would order separate labels with first names for each of them.
That gives you more flexibility/options in the future if you need it (once they get to pre-school or if your daycare likes to keep some things for use by only one child) rather than getting only your surname and finding something later that you need to have first names on.

For clothes I either write on the label (do the baby clothes at least have a tag with washing instructions?) with a laundry pen-that's the quickest way-or use the sew-on labels. I would go with iron-on over stick in, mainly because I imagine my lot (certainly at that age) would find and remove the sticker!

I just write their names with a black fine point permanent marker. I put both of their names on the food/bottles so they know it can be served to either one (although I do not think the school is allowed to let them share one bottle).

I ordered labels with both first names and then our last initial. Example would be JamesThomas A.
