We have been having poop problems here. Arwen is usually okay but Lorien has been on Miralax regularly for several weeks with great improvement. All of a sudden Arwen hasn't pooped for 5 days. She doesn't seem to be in any pain...yet. This has happened a few times before and I have gotten her back on Miralax but it hasn't kicked in yet. I'm gettinng nervous because I have heard that it's dangerous after 3 days and yet it's been five. She might be making poop now dh says but she's been saying she's going to do it "later." I tried to do a suppository before but she screams and cries and twists and turns to the point I can't physically get it in her. What do you think?

BTW, she is not potty trained. She refuses but I'm wondering if this is a sign she is getting ready even though she REFUSES to use a pull up or underwear.

Have you tried giving her some fruits that help with constipation...like cantaloupe, apricots, cherries, etc? Maybe giving her some of those fruits will help along with the miralax. I found this website that lists all of the fruits that have a laxative effect.

Thanks Rachel. she is generally a really good fruit eater though we have recently discovered she is allergic to cantalope. she refuses to eat prunes which has helped her sister. I don't know, I'll try calling the ped tomorrow if she doesn't go by the morning. dh and I are going to try and get a suppository in her before bed which is in a few minutes. I hope it helps. She is so backed up. I can't imagine how she must feel.

Wow, that is a long time! Glad she is not in any pain.

Our Ped said pear juice was the best -- she is also a Mom of 3 under 5 with one that has been on Miralex since 18 months.

    Hope things start moving soon.

Plum juice + Miralax did the trick for my DD after 4 days of no poop.

I know you are relieved!! My kids always hated supositories as well. She should feel better!

Phew! We are big suppository fans too! My DD does not poop when we are out of town. So we have learned and they work every time. (Of course, the first time I did it, I had to bribe her a dollar! )

Oh, good! Glad she had some results.

We use to use the suppositories on DD. Now, she fights us like crazy. They do work though!!
